Student Expectations

As we return to a more normal school environment, we would like to emphasize some student expectations that will help keep Rombout a safe and positive environment.

Hats, hoods, and other “headgear” are not permitted to be worn at school except for medical and religious purposes. Students should adhere to these rules in all areas of the building.

Cell phones are not allowed to be used during the school day on school grounds. Cell phone use in a classroom, for educational purposes, is at the teacher’s discretion. Airpods, earbuds, and headphones are not to be used in the hallways. A student having 1 earbud/airpod in during lunch and recess is acceptable; use in the classroom is at the teacher’s discretion. Videotaping is prohibited while on school grounds. This includes and is not limited to: video recording, live streaming, facetime, TikTok, etc.

Students are required to wear a mask while in school. While eating in the cafeteria, a student may remove their mask if they are sitting down.

Students are expected to sign out of the classroom/cafeteria before leaving that location. We will not be using hall passes and security will be present to monitor students in the halls.

Big picture

The RMS Environmental Club needs your help in participating in the USagain Earth Month Contest. From April 1 through May 1 students, parents, faculty and community are encouraged to drop off gently used clothing and other textiles to our collection bin. At the end of the contest (May 1, 2021), the three schools which collect the most textiles and clothing per student will be ranked and awarded cash prizes. All the proceeds from this contest will benefit the Environmental Club and be used towards our school garden!

Our clothing drop off bin is located in the "old main entrance" parking lot. Start that spring cleaning!! Any questions email benson.ma@beaconk12.org

Girls on the Run - Starts April 7th

Any girls interested in joining Girls on the Run for the Spring season should email or see Ms. Karnavezos. First practice is Wednesday, April 7th!

Girls on the Run helps motivate girls to:

  • Learn more about themselves
  • Become independent and critical thinkers
  • Develop skills to write their own stories
  • Find inner strength through physical activity

March Teacher Lesson of the Month

Each month RMS students nominate lessons or activities that they felt really engaged them in learning. The winner for March is 6th Grade Science Teacher, Ms. Benson! Ms. Benson's student nominated a lesson called, "Ecosystems Relationship Game" and said, "we were learning about relationships between ecosystems and because we aren't allowed to use Blooket, this lesson was a fun way to achieve the same thing but in-person. We used a whiteboard marker and marbles. I like the way Ms.Benson teaches because she makes it more fun than just memorizing information.”
