Thesis
In the story the "The Lottery" by author Shirley Jackson. Jackson illustrates that an unexamined life is not worth living. This quote means if we don't about ourselves then were better off dead.

When Tessie shouts, You didn't give him time enough to take any paper he wanted. I saw you, it wasn't fair" (Jackson4).This qoute demonstartes that life is not always fair.

" Over in the north village they're talking about giving up the lottery"( Jackson4). This quote wraps up the theme because people are realizing that an unexamined life is not worth living.
