Fall 2 2021

A Message from Principal Callaghan

Dear WHS Families,

We are grateful the first three days of the ‘21-‘22 school year ran smoothly as teachers/staff connected with students to welcome them back and to begin to establish the crucial bonds needed for optimal teaching and learning conditions. Please know there is a great deal of excitement for the year ahead.

In the coming days, I will be sharing a video ‘Welcome Message’ to WHS families which will introduce this year’s school-wide theme and highlight our areas of focus to ensure WHS continues to meet the needs of all students amidst the complex demands in our society.

Again, our enthusiasm and commitment to a safe and successful year ahead are very high. Welcome!

Mr. Brian M. Callaghan

WHS Principal

WHS Annual Open House ~ 9/9/21 @ 6:30 pm

Please review the details of our annual Open House to take place in person on Thursday, September 9th at 6:30 p.m.

Open House represents a nice tradition at WHS and an opportunity for parents to better understand our high school programs and a chance to meet teachers. This event is an important one for our high school that typically attracts enthusiastic and eager participants. We very much want to promote a sense of partnership with parents and have you clearly recognize the extraordinary quality of the professional staff and high-caliber programs and services within WHS.

Class presentations to parents/ guardians shall focus on the following:

  • The nature of instruction and major course objectives
  • Academic expectations and what students will be doing
  • Homework, grading, special requirements
  • Suggestions on how parents can support the efforts of students

(Information that cannot be provided in 8 minutes will be printed as handouts for parents)

Details and the Schedule for WHS Open House

To limit overcrowding, we have modified this year's Open House as follows:
  • Masks must be worn inside school
  • One family member/guardian per child may attend
  • If you have more than one child, each family member or guardian may follow one student's schedule
  • If you are a two-household family, both parents/guardians may attend if preferred
  • Prior to Open House: Parents/Guardians can watch a recorded message from WHS Principal which will be sent out via email.
  • Family member/s arrive at WHS by 6:30 pm
  • Passing time between classes is 5 minutes.
  • Reminder, this event is for Parents/Guardian's only (no students or siblings please)

The WHS Student Ambassadors
are available to assist you in finding classrooms. (The Ambassadors will be the students wearing navy blue polo shirts stationed all around the school)

District Updates - Important Action Required

Assistant Superintendent, Daniel Mayer sent the following information out last week, please read:

  • At the beginning of the school year, for safety reasons, it is critical that you log into PowerSchool and review your child’s contact information and health information and that you complete all required sign off sheets. Here are the directions for completing this process. Should you have any questions please contact your child's school. This needs to be completed by September 20th. Thank you for reviewing and updating this information. I hope that your family has a terrific school year.
