Students played a tag game with rubber chickens, and there were always two way not to get caught: run fast or do an exercise. Barker's Hoopla is a traditional game where students are filling their basket with bean bags by collecting them from a central source OR stealing them from another team. Lots of red faces after that one. We practiced throwing skills in the last third of the class.
Parents received a quick overview of behavior, movement, and effort expectations at Curriculum Night. At the top of our pyramid is "Adventure:" healthy enough and physically literate enough to enjoy life. Here's a link to the dcoument:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-R29XYrBM0ZDIaoiD4zXmiUXLTw22LEQ/view?usp=drivesdk. Bring in a picture or drawing of your child or your family enjoying life and we'll show each other what "adventure" can look like.
Yoga is M and F. AIM is T, W, Th. We have 10 students at 10 miles already, each sporting the 10 mile bracelet. Remember the Cheldelin Cougar Classic Mile for Grades 3-5 is Oct. 17. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeHiMwEqoQ2awj2xJ_DmsNj5BQdRvZwnwXdWO47hp0PnOqf0g/viewform or see Mr. Behrens for an entry. The 12th Annual Autumn Amble, a 2019 meter run/walk around the fields, is Oct. 18th at 9:35. Join in!
Each Box Top clip is worth 10 cents...and they add up! There are now 2 ways to collect and donate Box Tops. Box Tops for Education is going digital, and in the transition they are accepting both clips and scans.
If your package has a traditional Box Top clip, cut it off and send it into school.
If your package has a Scan Your Receipt Box Top, download the free Box Tops for Education App, set your school for Adams Elementary School, and scan your grocery receipts. It's fast and easy!
The AmazonSmile Foundation donates 0.5% of purchases to an organization you designate. Please support Adams by selecting Adams Parents Association when you visit www.amazon.com/smile
Fred Meyer Community Rewards allows you to link your reward card to an organization of your choice. To link your card to Adams, login in to your account online or visit the customer service counter in store.

Have you filled out the online free Adams T-shirt form for your student(s) yet? This year, thanks to the Adams Parents Association (APA), every student enrolled at Adams will receive a royal blue T-shirt with the Adams Alligator logo free of cost. These Adams shirts should be worn for our weekly Adams Pride Days (Fridays), field trips, and any day they wish to show their Adams school spirit! Students can choose to receive either a short sleeve cotton or athletic style dry-fit T-shirt. For those who already have a royal blue Adams shirt that fits and do not want another, there is a “no thank you” option as well. We also have in stock several smaller cotton T-shirts and a limited number of medium to large sized cotton shirts that will be available (1 free per enrolled student). First come, first serve, until they’re gone.
In addition, we are taking orders for the following purchasable Adams Wear items, all in royal blue with the Adams Alligator logo. Adams Wear makes great gifts for family members, friends, and Adams volunteers! Pick up an order outside the Adams office. All orders must be accompanied with payment and returned to the office or your child’s teacher by Friday, Oct. 4th. Credit card payment will be also available at the Adams Wear table during both Curriculum Nights. Orders will be delivered to students in November, unless requested to be picked up in the office.

Starting this fall, all schools in the Corvallis School District will use SchoolMessenger for parent/guardian outreach, emergency broadcasts, and other important communications.
Next week, parents and guardians will have the opportunity to OPT-IN to receive school safety messages and absence notifications via SMS (text). School websites and email news will continue to provide general school news and announcements.
