Mrs. Rhodes' Newsletter
Week of Monday, October 28th
This Week in Room 508:
We will be learning about the pumpkin lifecycle and watching our pumpkins start to decompose, we will keep one pumpkin to observe and we will watch it over the next few weeks!
Readers Workshop: Readers make text to self connections while they read.
Writers Workshop: Understanding a "small moment" story. Students will write non-fiction stories about a small moment in their life.
THANK YOU!
Thank you so much for the pumpkin donations and for our parents who came up to help carve, the kids had an incredible time and I couldn't have done it without your support!
Fall Party
Our fall party is this Thursday, October 31st from around 8:30-10:00. If you are helping to set up, be there at 8:00. Hope to see you all there!
Math Around Us
The students are learning that they can find math all around us! At school, at home, at the grocery store, at a restaurant!! If you find an opportunity outside of school that your child relates something back to math, please take a picture and email it to me! We will be creating a collage of all of our pictures where we see math around us!
Examples:
Graphing your fruit snacks at Whataburger! (Thanks Caitlyn!!)
Sorting and graphing your Halloween candy!
Finding a pattern or making a pattern!
Finding and recognizing a shape! etc. etc.
