MCES Snack Program
2015-2016
Daily Snacks For Students
In the 2015-2016 school year, the MCES counseling department began a school-wide snack program. This program is for students who demonstrate a need for additional school snacks. They may be showing signs of hunger and/or are not bringing a snack from home. Students are added into the program by classroom teachers, the counselor and the social worker when a need is realized. These students receive a bag every two weeks with 10 snacks. Many of these students are also referred to participate in our track-out food program. During the 2015-2016 school year, 49 students participated in the program. 3 parent volunteers help with packing the snacks. The snacks are obtained through the Holly Springs Food pantry and parent donations.
Snack Donations!
We are ALWAYS in need of snack donations. Individual packages of crackers, chips, granola bars, fruit cups, and applesauce are always appreciated. We also need donations of paper bags, sandwich bags and spoons.
Also, several of our parent volunteers are moving on to the middle school with their students, so we are in need of several parents who could help with packing snack bags. Please contact Lisbeth Fillard at lfillard@wcpss.net if you can help out!
