Little Prairie Primary School
November 2023
From the Principal's Desk
Happy November! It’s hard to believe that we are already 2 months into the school year. We are in full swing, and off to a great start.
Thank you, families, for your participation in Parent-Teacher Conferences. Those conversations are important to us, and we appreciate your partnership. You will be receiving further written communication about your child’s progress via their first trimester report card in a few weeks. The last day of first trimester is Thursday, November 30th. Reports cards will be available via Family Access several days after that.
As we wrap up the last few weeks of the 1st trimester, we are excited about all of the great things happening here at Little Prairie. Students are continuing to work hard exhibiting our school expectations of respect, responsibility, safety, and care. Our November theme for the month is responsibility. As we work to meet the social, emotional, and academic needs of students, teachers recently completed the Social, Academic, Emotional Behavior Risk Screener (SAEBRS) for students 5K-2nd grade. This tool allows us to identify students that might be in need of academic and/or social emotional support. Additionally, students have been hard at work in their classrooms developing skills to reach the various learning targets that have been established for all academic areas. More details about specific learning targets can be found in classroom/grade level communication and will also be highlighted on your child’s report card.
Thank you for your cooperation thus far with our drop-off and pick-up procedures. If you are choosing to park and walk your child to the door in the morning, or come to the sidewalk to get your child in the afternoon, please make every effort to use the crosswalk. If we experience a heavy rain during dismissal, we will hold your children inside, but check in with cars as we typically do. Please be patient, as this does take longer. Please do not leave your car unattended at the curb. If it is snowing, we will have students line up outside, as we typically do. Please also navigate the parking lot slowly. It is a busy place, and slow, cautious driving can help prevent an accident. Thanks for your help! Additionally, if your child rides the bus, I ask that you please carve out some time to talk about safety at the bus stop (especially now that it is darker in the morning), appropriate bus behavior, reminding them of the importance of staying in their seat, and keeping their hands, feet, and belongings to themselves.
As we move forward in the year, remember that school attendance is crucial to your child’s academic success. We are currently experiencing an influx of students arriving just after 7:50. Please make every effort to have your students here, and here on time.
Focused on growth for all students,
Mrs. Harris
November's PBIS theme is RESPONSIBILITY!
*We earned our first school-wide reward (our PBIS lion t-shirts) Yay! We will be wearing these shirts on MONDAYS.
*We are currently working towards our next school-wide reward of "Lego Day!"
*Please use the attached bucket drops and send one back to school when you catch your child demonstrating “bucket filling” behavior at home.

The PTO Prompt
ALL students need an extra outfit!
Here are just a few other reasons they may need a change of clothes:
* get wet while outside at recess
* clothes get a hole or rip in them while playing
* spill food/drink at lunch
* bloody nose
We do not always have the right size or preferred style of clothing in the health room for students needing to change their clothes; therefore, to ensure your child is comfortable in the event they require a change of clothes, please send a complete outfit to be kept in their backpack or cubby (socks, underwear, pants & shirt). Thank you!
Happy Thanksgiving!
