Big picture

ACADEMIC HIGHLIGHTS

AP Government-Talawanda High School is proud of our offerings of AP classes based on the College Board curriculum in social studies and the success our students have found in those opportunities. Talawanda seniors for the class of 2022 taking AP Government have, like graduating classes before them, again scored above both the Ohio and national averages. Talawanda is proud of its continued track record of success from students taking and excelling on assessments from the College Board.

AP Modern World History- Talawanda is also proud of our students who took the AP Modern World History Exam. THS had 82% of students (31 in number) pass the AP Modern World History exam for the 2021-22 school year. That is better than the Ohio Average of 75% passing and better than the Global Average of 62% passing.

BRAVE DAY

BRAVE Day at Talawanda High School is our annual family building and diversity event for our Sophomore class. The focus of the day is on making students realize that they are not alone at Talawanda, and they have many other peers and adults that care about and support them. Our students are a large part of our community, and by sharing stories, participating in activities, and most importantly, listening, they realize the important role they play with their classmates. Since 2009, BRAVE Day has been an influential part of our Anti-bullying, personal empowerment program at THS and our students come out of this experience better people for it.

The event will take place Tuesday, October 4th for 10th grade students A-L

Thursday, October 6th for 10th grade students M-Z

If your student does not want to participate, they will need to fill out the notification form handed out in their Sophomore English class next week and return it to the main office or room 301 at THS. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact Mr. Zimmerman via email at zimmermana@talawanda.org.

THE League of Women Voters

The League of Women Voters is partnering with the Talawanda School District to bring awareness to the importance of voting. Kid's Voting is a program designed for students 3rd grade through 12th grade. Students at different grade levels will engage in lessons designed to encourage voter and civic awareness. At THS specifically students will learn about the voting process happening this November, be given a voter's guide, and engage in lessons that will engage them in the electoral process. The League of Women's Voters is a non-partisan organization whose goals are to encourage voting and voter registration. All the information in their voter's guide will come directly from the candidates who are running for office themselves.
