Unity Preschool News
November 12, 2002 - Week 6
Director's Dispatch
Dear Preschool Families,
Are you struggling with how to celebrate the holidays this year considering the pandemic and ever-changing COVID protocols? We have had to make difficult decisions at Unity Preschool. Unity Preschool's annual Thanksgiving Feast has been a Unity Preschool tradition since the first year we opened and our Staff's favorite event. We invite families and extended families to gather in our Fellowship Hall and enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal together. We just could not let this beloved tradition end, so we decided to continue our Feast but in a mini-version with the children in their classrooms. More details are included in the Newsletter.
Between planning for the Preschool Feast and my family's Thanksgiving traditions, this time of year is usually very busy and stressful for me. This year, however, instead of focusing on what's missing, I am focusing on gratitude. I am grateful that the stress and anxiety I usually feel right now will not be invading my heart this year. I am grateful that my older daughter who lives in Seattle had only a mild case of COVID and that we will be able to enjoy Thanksgiving with her via Facetime. I am grateful for all of our veterans and active service members who serve our country so faithfully including my brother who is currently stationed in Qatar with the Air Force National Guard. We are grateful that you share your delightful children with us and we look forward to enjoying many Thanksgiving and Christmas traditions with them in the coming weeks. From our Unity Preschool family to yours, we wish you a safe and blessed Thanksgiving holiday.
Blessings,
Ms. Linda

Introducing Ms. Heather
Ms. Heather is the Lead Teacher of our Four's (Fish) class. This is her fourth year working with our Four's class. She is a Texas native and a former third-grade teacher. Ms. Heather and her husband, Clay, are the proud parents of two busy boys: Zeke (Fourth grade at Tega Cay Elementary) and Cameron (Kindergarten at Tega Cay Elementary). Ms. Heather and her family currently attend Forest Hills Church - Fort Mill. She is also actively involved with NothingPink, a local nonprofit founded by a dear friend of hers. NothingPink brings awareness to the importance of genetic testing for hereditary cancers and support to women and families walking that journey. Ms. Heather has a personal family history of breast cancer so it has been an honor for her to witness families blessed by the support that NothingPink brings to our community.
Here are a few of Ms. Heather's favorites:
Favorite Foods: Mexican (Zapata's)
Favorite Music: Christmas Music - She confesses that she is the "start listening after Halloween kind of person".
Favorite Book: Ms. Heather LOVES to read. Nicholas Sparks, Elin Hilderbrandt, and Kristin Hannah are a few of her favorites.
Favorite Activities: Ms. Heather loves weekend trips with her family to the beach or mountains, watching her boys play sports, watching movies, and playing board games and cards.
Thank you for sharing some LOVE with our Fort Mill Neighbors
Thank you so much for donating food items for the Fort Mill Care Center to provide a Thanksgiving meal for Fort Mill families.
