TEACHER OF THE WEEK
Wende Smith- 5th. grade Teacher
I teach 5th grade Science and Social Studies, and I love each and every one of my students. I grew up in Lewisville, TX. I graduated from Texas Woman's University, with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. I come from a long line of teachers, my mother who taught for 42 years in Lewisville ISD and a sister who teaches deaf education in Birdville ISD. I have two birds named Larry Bird and Lady Bird. In my spare time, I teach swim lessons and coach swim teams at Emler Swim School. I also enjoy playing volleyball and kickball. I am looking forward to another wonderful school year of teaching our students.

Curriculum Night--Tuesday, September 29, 2015---6:00-7:00pm Prek-2nd Grade
Pre K-2nd Curriculum Night will take place on Tuesday, September 29. This will give our Pre K, Kinder, 1st and 2nd grade teachers the opportunity to communicate our Academic Curriculum curriculum expectations with our parents. Each grade level team will present an overview of the academic expectations for the 2015-2016 school year. We hope to see many of you there.
FLU SEASON
It’s time to start thinking about flu season!
Fall is upon us, and it’s time to start thinking about getting vaccinated for the flu! The CDC recommends getting your flu vaccination by October so it will have plenty of time to become effective by the time flu season actually arrives. It can take up to a full 2 weeks for the vaccine to become effective after you receive it. Call your doctor today and schedule an appointment to receive vaccinations for your entire family.
Chavez Parent Survey
At Chavez Elementary we value our parent's feedback to continue to improve as a school. We would appreciate you taking the time to answer the parent survey on the enclosed link. Thank you so much for all of the support you provide Chavez Elementary.

SEPTEMBER 28TH, 2015
If your child is creative, is crazy about puzzles, loves to paint and draw, can build anything out of even just cardboard boxes, writes amazing stories, thinks up whimsical new worlds, has a flair for drama and acting, is totally into science, or has rewired your toaster into a working time machine (or wants to),...then you may have a Destination Imagination child.
Come and check out a new and exciting program in Little Elm for K-8 students: Destination Imagination (DI). We are looking to start a team on each Elementary and Middle School Campus and need parents and students who are willing and ready to take on a CHALLENGE!
WE WILL SEE YOU THERE!
