SAS Update

January 8, 2021

Big picture

We are halfway through our two-week all-school e-learning period, and it’s going well! Our SAS teachers and staff are in the building every day, so they have access to all of their classroom materials and equipment. Our full-time e-learners are setting a great example and leading the way for the students who are normally face-to-face. We can’t wait to see our in-person scholars when they come back to the building on January 19.

In light of the unusual circumstances, January iReady assessments will be postponed until February.

PayPal Classroom Contest!

As you know, we are in the process of raising money to cover this year's deficit and keep St. Ann School going for years to come. We have already surpassed $100,000 on our way to our $150k goal! Our students have asked for a way to participate in the fundraising, so we are holding a PayPal competition! The class that raises the most in PayPal donations by Friday, January 15 will win a prize. Donations of any size may be made to

This is a quick and easy ask through social media and email. The kids can reach out directly to friends and relatives with your help. We have even included a sample plea below for you to copy, paste, and customize! VERY IMPORTANT: Be sure to ask your donors to indicate your child’s or teacher’s NAME and GRADE in the MESSAGE section so their contributions can be credited to the proper class. Any donations that come into the PayPal account without a class designation will be attributed to general Angel Fund donations, so they won’t count for the competition. Together we can do this! (Of course all other channels for donation--Give Central, Text-To-Pay, and good old fashioned checks in hand--are still open as well, but not part of this particular contest).

Dear (Friends),

You may have heard that (your child’s name) school, St. Ann in Lansing, is raising funds in the fight to remain open after this year. Our goal is $150,000, and we have already raised more than $100k! Our St. Ann students have asked to participate in the fundraising, so we are holding a PayPal competition! The class that best spreads the word and brings in the most in PayPal donations by Friday, January 15 will win a prize. So we are asking our friends far and wide to send donations of any size via PayPal to Please be sure to indicate (your child's NAME and GRADE) in the message section so (his/her) class receives credit for your donation.

Thank you, thank you!

School Board Meeting

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 20, 7:00 p.m.

As always, all parents and faculty are welcome to attend. We will be discussing the fundraising measures aimed at keeping the school open, and hope that you will join us on Google Meet:

Help Save Our School!

As you have heard, the Archdiocese of Chicago has tasked us with raising $150,000 to cover this year’s deficit or face probable closure at the end of the current school year. One of the contributing factors to our large shortfall this year is the fact that we did not charge our usual refundable Volunteer Deposit since we can’t use volunteers during the pandemic, and thus, there are no opportunities to earn it back. In reality, very few families put in enough time to earn this fee back every year, so we usually end up with about $30k that helps cover school expenses.

Would you consider “volunteering” your $300 Volunteer Fee

for the Angel Program?

If every school family were to contribute at least $300, we could add $30k to the pot very quickly. You will also receive a limited edition St. Ann tumbler (other donors have to give at least $1,000 in order to receive one of these!) and some other St. Ann surprises. And of course if you can give more, or rally others to go in with you on a larger donation, it would be an even bigger help. After #GivingTuesday, our total has now reached $58,000 in pledges and donations. Help us keep that positive momentum going!

Set your pledge up online at, or complete the pledge form you received and return to school with your check or credit card information. If you prefer to process your donation as a pledge, your card will be charged $30 per month over 10 months for a $300 pledge. Thank you!

Together we can do this!

Thank you, thank you to everyone who has already donated or referred donors to us!
