A Guide to Professional Development and ProGOE Usage

Welcome to the ProGOE Press - Edition 11

This quarterly newsletter will be sent to School Site Inservice Representatives and ESF Course Creators to provide support for using ProGOE, storage and handling of professional development records, and other issues that can impede the accuracy of our transcript system. The newsletter will contain tips for SIRs and ESF Staff, as well as video tutorials and other helpful information.

Finalize End of the Year PD

As we approach the end of the school year, it is a good time to reflect on the various professional development provided at your school or what our district trainers have provided for teachers and administrators. Follow these steps to check to make sure all of your PD has been finalized and points have been awarded to participants.

  1. Check your list of PD offered during the 21-22 school year
  2. Go back and double check each course/section to make sure credit was awarded. If participants are still in registered status, make sure to complete them by marking them requested withdrawal or no show and then changing their credits to zero.
  3. Place the roster and follow ups in a folder, clearly marked with the training course/section or component.
  4. Store in a secure location for up to 5 years

* At the end of the 5 years records may be destroyed, however PD records require a completed signed and authorized Records Disposition Document prior to destruction. (Schedule GS-7, Item 65) See General Records Schedule GS7 For Public Schools PreK-12 and Adult and Career Education

FINALIZE YOUR CREDITS FOR FEBRUARY 2022 BUILDING LEVEL PD DAY

As of April, all of our schools would have implementations from the February 21, 2022 PD Day. It is time to double check to make sure you have provided credit for all of your teachers who participated in PD. Make sure not to leave teachers in registered status. If they did not attend the PD, but were registered to attend, please make sure to either remove them from the roster or mark them as Requested Withdrawal, No Credit, then change their credits to zero. It is important not to leave participants in registered status. Make sure to store your sign in sheet and implementation forms for 5 years.

If you are the ProGOE in-service representative and are unsure of your course or section and need assistance, please feel free to contact Lynnette Thorstensen at ext. 11175 or thorstensen.lynnette@brevardschools.org

NEVER LEAVE PARTICIPANTS IN REGISTERED STATUS

At the conclusion of an inservice, it is the job of the ProGOE Site Inservice Representative to go into ProGOE and award attendance and credits for all participants. Every person on the roster MUST HAVE something in the REGISTRATION STATUS column and something in the GRADE column. Every person on the roster should have something in both columns. If they attended the workshop and stayed the entire length of time, then it should always be marked COMPLETE. If they did not show up you can mark them as NO SHOW or REQUESTED WITHDRAWAL depending on the circumstances. In the GRADE column, they either completed an implementation and earned a grade or they did not. There should be no grey area. Please make sure participants are not left hanging in courses, it can interfere with future course enrollments.

In addition, if someone received NO CREDIT in the grade column, please ALWAYS make sure to go to the CREDIT button and change their credits to ZERO. This important step can not be left out.
