A New Adventure
This past week has been quite a whirlwind for our close-knit community and beyond. Everyone at Stoy is dedicated to supporting you and your children through this unfamiliar territory.
Using the district's layout, I plan on maintaining our current academic plan. There will be materials and activities mandated by the district for remote learning. Since Seesaw is a platform that is familiar to you and your child, I will use the app to communicate with you and provide daily activities and assignments. A new Seesaw code came home Friday. Be sure to keep it in a safe place so you can reconnect your child to his/her account from a home device. Everything included in the plan is intended to keep your children happy, engaged, and connected to our classroom and school community. I know that consistency is essential for young learners, therefore I plan on providing our class with some daily routines.
- Each morning I will send a Morning Greeting and share the goals for the day
- I will ask students to comment in a fun way on Seesaw as a way to take "attendance"
- Daily activities will be provided to help "kick-off" their day
- I will post a read aloud, or two, for the students
- Activities and assignments will be posted for your child to complete by the end of each day.
- I will provide various links for students to explore and support their learning
Try to encourage your child to participate in many of these activities independently. I understand this is our first time doing this, so please let me know if you encounter any glitches. Beyond what is assigned each day, please continue to read with your child(ren), encourage them to write daily, practice numeracy, and create problem solving scenarios.
Keep in mind that guidance on how to conduct our remote learning is still being rolled out at the district level. Please accept that changes may occur, but it is in the interest of developing best practices to deal with this new situation. As always, feel free to email or message me on Seesaw if you have any questions or concerns.
