End-of-Year Drive-Through Farewell
I hope that you are all doing well. It is hard to believe that next week is our last week of school! We would like to bring some closure to the end of the school year by having a drive-through farewell. This will be held on the last day of school, Thursday, May 21. Staff will be following guidelines of staying at least six feet apart and will be spread out from the entrance of car loop around the building and then back up to the street (please see the map below).
In order to be as safe as possible, we are asking the following of families:
- To assist with traffic flow, we are asking that families come during certain time frames.
- Families with last names of A-L drive through between 12:00-12:15.
- Families with last names of M-Z drive through between 12:15-12:30.
- Cones will be placed at the entrance so that we can get everyone in their spots before we begin.
- Please do not stop your car or have anyone get out. We want to keep the line moving and keep everyone as safe as possible!
- This is a great time to roll down your windows and wave or share a poster.
Cross your fingers for a good weather day on the 21st! If the weather forecast does not look ideal, alternate plans will be communicated.
Please let me know if you have any questions!
Drop Box
It was great to see many of you on Monday at our drive-by item pick-up. Many of you returned school items on this day, but we did have several people mention that they forgot to bring back items such as library books, textbooks, or even a note for a teacher. We will have a School Item Drop Box outside the main entrance Monday-Friday from 8:30-4:00 this week as well as next week, weather permitting.

Staff Changes
First, Sarah Stephenson began her teaching career at PRE teaching 4th grade this year. We have enjoyed getting to know Mrs. Stephenson and appreciate her teaching skills and talents. We will miss Mrs. Stephenson as she will join the staff at Starside Elementary School. We wish her all the best!
Mrs. Melissa Mendez taught second grade this year, and she will move to third grade next year.
We are delighted to have her continue at PRE!

We are not requiring anyone submit work to us, however we want to offer an OPTIONAL way for you to share the work you do for the specials lessons each week. If you would like to take a picture or video of yourself completing a lesson, you may do so and send it to us through email or upload it to your Seesaw account.
Our specials teachers have created their own newsletter with information for all of you. This week features a special Field Day Edition! Have fun! Click below to view!
Awards and Recognition
Musicians of the Year Awards
Each year, Mrs. Jimenez looks for the students who are going above and beyond in working their hardest, being kind to all, and always having a positive attitude. Even when musical skills are tough to learn, these students gave it their all and continued to persevere! These students are those who include others in small groups, help classmates in achieving ultimate success, and are encouraging to all! I am so proud to announce this year’s award recipients as the “Musicians of the Year”!

These next students are some super-star leaders who go above and beyond in helping our choir run smoothly and successfully. They are the leaders who set the example for all choir members and were always willing to help. I don’t know what I would do without these special people and am so lucky to have had them as Choir Presidents this year! Thank you for everything!
Outstanding Choir Members:
Each year in choir, I always look for students who are going the extra mile in being kind to others, positive behavior in a group, confidence in singing, and always willing to help. These choir members were at almost every rehearsal, always a leader for their section, and always put forth their best effort. Art Award
Each school year, one piece of artwork from each school in the district is selected to go on permanent display in a student art gallery at the De Soto Administrative Offices. It is always such a tough choice because Prairie Ridge is bursting at the seams with wonderful, artistic students! Congratulations to 1st grade student in Mrs. Goodman’s class, Rowan Walker, who had her farmland landscape chosen for framing and display in the gallery! There will be a recognition ceremony next year for these artists to attend! Well done, Rowan!
Math Olympiad
Each year, students in 4th and 5th grade compete on an international level in Math Olympiad. Our team explores a variety of mathematical concepts while also fostering creative problem solving skills. This year’s top mathletes were in the top 10% of competitors around the world for their grade level and more than half of our team was in the top 50% or higher around the world! So, I am so proud to announce this year’s top scorer was…. A TIE!! Congratulations Graham Anderson and Zane Hodson for being PRE’s top scoring competitors and in the top 10% globally!

Announcements Team
This wonderful group of 5th graders created our daily announcements. They broadcasted the news, school events, the lunch menu, special guests, and of course...jokes! They learned a lot about how to collaborate and edit content. How many retakes were done? We are not sure, but many giggles were had in creating announcements for the entire school to enjoy!
