History of Greece
The flag of Greece, most recently adopted on 22 December 1978, features horizontal stripes of blue and white, with a white cross on a blue square in the upper left-hand corner. Blue represents the waters of the Greek sea, and white, the sea foam of restless Greek waves. Blue and white also represent the blue skies of Greece with its bright white clouds. While nature is symbolized in the flag's colors, the people's strong faith is shown by the Greek cross, a symbol of the Greek Orthodox Church.
