Teaching Effective Hybrid Courses

Welcome, Learners!

I am excited that you have chosen to be part of UMUC. Class begins on Monday; however, I have opened the Introduction discussion topic in the classroom so we can get a headstart on getting to know each other. In the upcoming week, you can expect to explore the UMUC approach to hybrid teaching, best practices, and UMUC expectations for hybrid teaching. We will finish the week with a case analysis and an opportunity to practice creating your own hybrid course schedule. I look forward to an interactive week learning about your experiences!

Course Description:

The purpose of this course is to recognize the significance of adjusting activities and outcomes to a hybrid course where appropriate and to take advantage of the features of both a face-to-face and online learning environment.

Course Objectives:

  • Recognize best practices in hybrid teaching.
  • Demonstrate appropriate hybrid activities and outcomes.
  • Examine hybrid course communication.

Instructor Note: If you haven't had a chance to explore our virtual classroom, take a virtual walk through LEO and tour through the content. If you have general questions about the course post them in the CyberCafe found in the Discussion section.

When you are ready to begin, click on Content at the top of the page on the nav bar then click on Module 1. Once there you will navigate through the course sequentially.

I've posted a walk-through video below.

Reminder: this course ends at 11:59 PM ET on Monday, October 8.
