United Methodist Special Sundays
The United Methodist Church supports six Church‐wide special Sundays each year. These Church-wide offerings help support ministries that touch lives all around the globe. Our giving helps offer refuge in times of disaster, promote peace and justice, provide scholarships, reach out to the community, teach skills to encourage self-sufficiency and share the love of Jesus Christ with God’s people everywhere.
Unfortunately, due to COVID, we missed a few of these special Sundays and would like to give everyone the opportunity to still support these ministries.
Below is a list of the Special Sundays missed and a summary of what each one supports:
UMCOR Sunday (March 22, 2020)
UMCOR is the humanitarian arm of The United Methodist Church. UMCOR’s work reaches people in more than 80 countries, including the United States. UMCOR provides humanitarian relief when war, conflict or natural disaster disrupts life to such an extent that communities cannot recover on their own.
Native American Ministries Sunday (April 26, 2020)
Native American Ministries Sunday serves to remind United Methodists of the gifts and contributions made by Native Americans to our society. The special offering supports Native American outreach within annual conferences and across the United States and provides seminary scholarships for Native Americans.
Peace with Justice Sunday (June 7, 2020)
Peace with Justice Sunday enables The United Methodist Church to have a voice in advocating for peace and justice through a broad spectrum of global programs. The special offering benefits peace with justice ministries in the annual conference and through the General Board of Church and Society.
If you wish to contribute to these special Sundays, please indicate that on the memo line of your check donation. Checks can be mailed or dropped off to the church office or can be turned in on Sundays with the offering.
Thank you for continuing to support these ministries!
FOOD PANTRY HELPERS
The food pantry is open on Mondays and Tuesdays during Dani's office hours. Appointments will need to be made and pickup will be curbside with pre-boxed items. If you know someone in need, please have them call the office (243-7300) to make an appointment.
The following are our current high needs items: paper towels, canned chicken, carrots, peas, ramen noodles (chicken flavor) and pork n’ beans.
SHOPPERS NEEDED!!!
We have money available for additional items needed in the pantry, but need volunteers to order/purchase meat. For the freezer this can be 1lb. packages of ground beef (in freezer paper) or hot dogs. Or canned ham (shelf stable) would be nice, as well.
If you would like to be a volunteer pantry shopper, please contact Dani!
Parking Lot Update
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU
I want to inform all of you that the parking lot project has been paid in full. This was $85,000.00 and a three year asking. Through the generosity of the members and friends of PUMC this has been accomplished. If you have not paid your pledge to this project and want to complete that, this money will be set aside for the trustees to use next year when the parking lot will need to be sealed. God is great all the time and this is an example of him working through all of us to complete this project. I am so thankful for all of you. God Bless, Bonnie Mankle, Treasurer

HIGHWAY CLEAN-UP
Highway Cleanup is almost done for the year! For all of you new members and friends, PUMC is responsible for cleaning Cedar Hills Dr. from Knoxville/Rt. 40 to Bland Rd. (See map below.)
We need 6-10 people meeting in the Banner School parking lot at 9:00 a.m. for approximately 1 hour on the last Saturday of the month. If there is a Sunday School class or family that would like to do it as a group but at a different time/day, that is great -- just get in touch with Lois Yoches (243-5062) or contact the office.
The county supplies the neon, reflective vests and trash bags; each person should bring working gloves and sturdy shoes. The cleanup works best if one person stays on the top portion of the ditch and one covers the lower part so no one has to walk up and down the steep ditch.
Next clean-up is Saturday, August 29th! See you in the Banner School parking lot at 9:00 am!
Calling all youth!

Questions? Contact Aaron at ahisey97@gmail.com or Dani in the office!

FACEBOOK LIVE
Every Sunday we will be going Facebook Live during the 9:30 worship service! The live link will be posted to PUMC's Facebook page shortly before 9:30 and you can join the service in real time. You can watch it from your phone, desktop, or stream to your TV. It's a great opportunity for all of us to worship together in real time, even if we aren't all together physically.
While you’re watching a Facebook livestream, you can weigh in with comments, and the broadcaster and other viewers will see your thoughts in real time. You can also invite friends to watch the same stream or share it to them.
The link will remain on our Facebook page, so if you join in late, or need to watch it at a later time, you can still view the video. This will now take the place of our pre-recorded services.
AND if you have not yet "liked" Prospect's Facebook page, the link has been provided below for you!
HOW TO WATCH OUR VIDEOS IF YOU DON'T HAVE FACEBOOK:
To watch our live videos (even if you do not have a Facebook account) simply click this link: https://www.facebook.com/DunlapProspectUMC/.
The above link will take you directly to PUMC's Facebook page.
Once there, scroll down and the video should be on the main screen. Simply click the video to play. If you don't have an account, it might prompt you to log in and/or create an account. Just close out of that message (there should be an "X" at the top right of that message) and the video will play.
You can also view new and old videos by clicking on the "video" tab on our Facebook page.
You will need to use this link weekly to watch the Sunday service, the link will remain in the weekly blast for you to access!
New Worship Procedures
Join us this Sunday, in the Sanctuary, at 9:30 AM!
We understand that not everyone might be ready to come back to indoor worship, so we ask that you attend how you feel most comfortable. We will be offering three ways to worship:
1. Inside the Sanctuary (more information on that below)
2. Via Facebook Live
3. The previously recorded Facebook Live service
NEW IN-DOOR WORSHIP RULES:
1. FACE MASKS ARE REQUIRED AT ALL TIMES.
We do this for each other’s safety. If you do not have one, we will have a supply on hand.
2. CHURCH MONITORS WILL ASSIST YOU WITH SEATING AND DISMISSAL.
We will have monitors in place controlling the flow. Seating will be socially distanced according to family groups. Monitors will seat families AND they will dismiss by rows. All will be encouraged to move through the narthex to the outdoors. There, you will be able to speak with one another at a recommended social distance.
3. THERE IS NO NURSERY OR KINGDOM QUEST.
Children are welcome and encouraged to sit with their parents during worship. There will be a children’s sermon during worship, but children will remain in the pews during it. Kids ages 2 and under do not need to wear a face mask.
4. WE WILL NOT HAVE PRAYER CARDS, BULLETINS, BIBLES OR HYMNALS.
Please send in prayer requests to Dani in advance either via email or phone. The order of worship will be available by Power Point during worship, we will not be using bulletins. There will be not be Bibles or hymn books in the pews.
If you would like to use one, please bring one from home.
*You no longer need to sign up for worship in advance!*
We look forward to worshiping with you this Sunday!
