We want to assure you that safety is our priority and we will be following all District protocols to insure the safety of all participants.
We want to highlight the policy that participants 2 years of age and up, are required to wear masks. We will have extra masks available should you or your child need a mask.
Also, due to safety precautions, we will not be participating in snack time during classes. (Please have snacks before or after class.) If you want, bring a bottle/sippy cup for your children. If you want a beverage for yourself in the parent room, please bring one from home. Thank you for your support in our efforts to keep masks on as much as possible.
Below are SPPS District Safety Protocols.
SPPS Mask Requirement - Letter from Joe Gothard, Superintendent 8/18/21
Dear Saint Paul Public Schools Families,
The Board of Education has voted to require face masks for all teachers, staff, students and visitors (ages 2 and older) in all SPPS buildings, regardless of a person’s vaccine status. This policy will go into effect today, Wednesday, August 18.
SPPS is taking the spread of COVID-19 seriously and is acting in the best interest of our community leading up to the new school year. The mask mandate is about the health and safety of students and staff and will help us keep in-person learning possible. Read the resolution.
Find more information on COVID-19 guidelines for the 2021-22 school year, including social distancing, quarantine protocols, field trips, athletics and more, at spps.org/safelearningplan. We have also updated and will continue to revise the COVID-19 Student and Family Guidelines as needed to reflect the latest public health recommendations from the Minnesota Department of Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
If you have not already done so, please get vaccinated and encourage others who are eligible to do the same. You can find vaccine resources at spps.org/covidvaccine.
These are challenging times for our families and community. Thank you for your attention to these important guidelines that are in place to ensure your students can learn in our schools while reducing the spread of COVID-19.
Please note, the Board also approved an expansion of the SPPS Online School to include K-8 for the 2021-22 school year. A separate message with more details will be shared with families later today.
In partnership,
Joe Gothard
Superintendent
