Spring Hill Families Featured in ATV Injury Prevention Coalition Safety Video

Marie Reed, BSN, RN from the Texas Dept. of State Health Services as well as Kathy LaMaster from the ATV Injury Prevention Coalition were in attendance at Spring Hill ISD's SHAC meeting on February 14, 2019 to recognize local families, Spring Hill High School students, and teachers who assisted the ATV Injury Prevention Coalition in an ATV safety video to promote education and safety measures in hope of preventing future accidents and injuries from happening. East Texas is #1 in the country for ATV accidents resulting in injury or death. The video has been seen over 2,000 times on YouTube and has been used in several area educational events and school injury prevention sessions, reaching around 4,000 people over the past year. Dr. Hellerstedt, the Commissioner of the Texas Department of State Health Services was especially moved by the video and appreciated each family's willingness to share their stories. Each family was presented with a plaque of appreciation as well as a personalized letter from Dr. Hellerstedt.
