Clyde Erwin Elementary School
Dr. Patterson's Weekly Update
Eagle Pride: Video by Dr. Patterson
February 9, 2019
Thank you to our parents, students, and staff who attended and/or assisted with the Magnet School Open House. It was a wonderful evening of showcasing the wonderful things going on at our school! Students from our dual-language immersion classrooms who participated did a great job presenting projects and sharing what they have learned.
Students worked really hard last week on their assessments. We are seeing tremendous growth in our students. Our i-Ready math assessment window continues through February 15, so please encourage your students to do their best. This diagnostic assessment provides important data to teachers for planning instruction for students and ensuring their preparation for next year.
Krispy Kreme Fundraiser
Next week is the last week for our Krispy Kreme fundraiser. Students have the opportunity to sell Krispy Kreme certificates for $8.50. Each certificate may be cashed in for one dozen glazed doughnuts. By purchasing these certificates, you are saving over $1.00 per dozen doughnuts, and the certificates never expire. The top selling student in K-2 and the top selling student in 3-5 will receive $10.00! All order forms and money is due to the teachers by February 15, 2019. Thank you for supporting our school and participating in our Krispy Kreme fundraiser!
Canned Food Drive
Next week, February 11-15, 2019, we are having a canned food drive to benefit the CHEW program through United Way. Non-perishable foods donated through this food drive directly benefit our students and families. The classroom in K-2 and the classroom in 3-5 that collects the most non-perishable items will receive an ice cream party. Thank you for your support of this worthy cause!
Illness
We have many children experiencing illness right now. Nurse Duane has sent many children home with fever, vomiting and coughing. Children are arriving to school in the morning with fever and/or after vomiting at home. It is very important to check your child before they come to school in the morning. If they are complaining of not feeling well and have had temperature greater than 100.0, are vomiting at home, experiencing diarrhea, and are coughing frequently PLEASE do not send them to school.
These students can easily transmit illness to other students, teachers, parents and staff.
Students who have been sick with fever and vomiting must be fever free for 24 hours, without fever reducing medication and must not be vomiting for at least 24 hours before returning to school.
Parents are reminded to update phone numbers if there have been changes to your number. It is very important that school personnel are able to reach you in case of emergency or regarding important school information which needs to be passed along by phone.
Free and Reduced Lunch
Free breakfast and lunch for all students ended on Thursday, January 31. If you have not filled out the Free and Reduced Lunch application, please apply today. If your student will continue to pay for lunch, please make sure money is on his or her account.
