Staff Spotlight
This week’s spotlight is on one of our new awesome 3rd grade teachers at PSA, Mrs. Duchene. Mrs. Duchene has a passion for teaching, as well as learning. Here is what she would like to share with you about herself: “My name is D'Ann Duchene, I was born and raised in El Paso Texas. I graduated from the University of Texas El Paso in May of 2015, and I am currently enrolled in a Masters Degree program at Capella University. I recently moved into the area with my husband and daughter. I am so happy to serve the amazing students here at Prestwick. My philosophy is that teachers need to be willing to improve and learn along with their students. One of the most valuable tools you can help someone attain is an education. I strongly believe in shaping the future by providing all students with a quality education. To me there is no job more rewarding than that of a teacher. I wake up everyday and look forward to going to work and seeing the look on a child's face when he/she learns something new.” Mrs. Duchene’s favorite quote by Jack Canfiled is, “ There's so much information on the internet. But people don't need more information, they need 'aha moments,' they need awareness, they need things that actually shift and change them.”

180 Degree Program for 8th Graders
Dear Parents/Guardians,
On December 13th & 14th we will have a guest speaker from the 180 Degrees Program come to speak to the 8th graders at Prestwick STEM Academy. The presenter will discuss how to set boundaries, how to develop healthy relationships, the importance of abstinence until marriage, current Sexually Transmitted Disease/Sexually Transmitted Infection statistics, teen pregnancy rates, abusive relationships, and how past negative choices don’t have to define the future. There is a parent program at Prestwick STEM Academy on December 4th at 6:30pm to give you more information or you can view the 180 Degrees website www.my180degrees.org.
If you DO NOT allow your child to hear this presentation, then please download the form below and return it by Monday, December 10th. This program is geared toward 8th grade students and will be very beneficial. If you have any concerns, please call Toni Nelson at 972-947-9443 ext. 20023 or a member of our administration team at 972-947-9450. Thank you.
