Our TEACHERS and PARAPROFESSIONALS
Tenna Cantrell
Mrs. Cantrell has been a special education teacher for 33 years with her MA in Special Education. She is originally from Tennessee and moved to Texas with her husband, Chris. She has two grown children and 4 precious grandbabies.
Renee Williams
Mrs. Williams is starting her 2nd year of teaching special education at Lyon Elementary. She started off subbing at Lyon and developed a love for the staff and students. She has been married to her husband for 20 years and they have 4 children together.
Lauren Griffis
Mrs. Griffis has been a teacher at Lyon for 3 years. She graduated from SHSU with a BS in Psychology. While working at Lyon as a para she fell in love with teaching and went back to pursue her teacher's certification in EC-6 and Special Education. Mrs. Griffis and her husband have two dogs, Lainey and Boone.
Lori Ainsworth
Ms. Ainsworth has been a special educations teacher for 5 years. She has been in the special education classroom for 13 years. Ms. Ainsworth is new to Lyon elementary. She has three adult children.
Emily Jenkins
I was born in Houston and grew up in Willis, Texas and graduated in 2008. I went on to gain my Bachelors degree in Psychology from Kaplan and went on to earn my Masters of Sciences in Psychology from Perdue Global with an emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis and started in the field five years ago in the Clinic setting. I have an almost 10 year old son as well as a 19 year old step daughter. I am super passionate and excited to be joining the team.
Brittney Swearengin
I graduated Magnolia High school in 2005 and I am currently attending Lone Star College to obtain my degree for Teaching. I have been married for 13 years and I am a mother to three amazing kids that attend MIS and MWHS. I have lived in Magnolia, TX my entire life. This will be my fourth year at Lyon Elementary as a SPED Paraprofessional. Nothing brings me more joy than working with kids to help them achieve their goals. I enjoy shopping and spending time with my family and animals.
Jennie Hacker
I have lived in Magnolia for 12 years. I have 2 girls, a senior at MWHS, and an 8th grader at MJH. I love going to church and spending time with family and friends.
Elsie Romero
This is my 2nd year as a PASS Aide in LES. I have lived in Magnolia for 15 years. I have 4 children, 3 of which attend Magnolia ISD schools. I love to work outside in my yard, I love to cook and especially enjoy watching movies with my kids.
Chris Hughes
I have been at Lyon for a year working as a PASS Aide. I am married and have 3 boys.
Danielle Fisk
I have an Associate's Degree in Natural Sciences from College of the Mainland in Texas City. I enjoy working with kids of all ages and am passionate about education. I just recently got married in December to my husband Tony. We have a beautiful big furbaby named Heidi, our St. Bernard.
FACE-to-FACE Learning
What does Face-to-Face Learning look like for Special Education, BESST, and PASS?
If you child receives small group pull-out instruction they will participate in lessons with their special education teacher and/or receive in-class support from teachers and paras when present on their scheduled days
BESST - Teachers and Paras
Students who are in the BESST program will receive instruction from the BESST teacher and paras. They will also participate in recess and specials with their peers.
PASS - Teachers and Paras
PASS teachers and paras will monitor PASS students while they are in their general education classes. Students will receive social skills instruction as needed from the PASS teacher.
Face-to-Face Schedule
Monday - PK and K
Tuesday - 1st and 3rd
Wednesday - 2nd and 4th
Zoom Meetings
Zoom Expectations
- Students should wear proper attire. No pajamas and you must have a shirt on.
- Preferred zoom location should be quiet and have minimal distractions (no bedrooms).
- Video must be on at all times.
- If less than 3 students are in a Zoom meeting a parent must be present.
