In Need of:
Reminder!!
This Week in Kindergarten
This students have been introduced to the letter sounds of E, M, F, and R. They are learning to write these letters correctly and to identify their sounds. It is important that all students be able to write their upper and lower case letters and their names correctly (capital letter first and then lower case). Students are also learning basic number sense and are practicing number writing. This week and next week, our focus in on numbers 1-10. You can help your child by practicing these items at home and making sure that they are doing them correctly. Have students practice touch and counting 8 pennies or 5 cheerios. Also, students must be able to count to 100 by 1's and 10's. You can help your child with this by playing games with them in the car or while they are playing outside. This is a skill that students can learn with movement which makes learning more fun!
This week, teachers are finishing gathering beginning of the year data about students. Teachers will use this data to make informed decisions about small group instruction in the classroom.

Announcements
Please encourage your child to turn in their Daily Folder everyday as I do not check book bags. This folder is a vital part of our parent/teacher communication. Please use it to check your child's behavior chart, send in notes or money and to check your child's classwork. Most classwork will be sent home on Fridays. Please enclose ALL money in an envelope with your child's name and teacher name on the outside. Beginning Monday, students who do not get their folder signed will move their "button" to a 4.
Please make sure you go over with your child what they are eating for lunch and for snack. Often young children get confused about what they are to eat. Please go over with your child what they are to eat for lunch and snack prior to coming to school. Teachers do not make selections for students and students are encouraged to serve themselves as they go through the school lunch line. We have a morning snack time in the classroom. Please make sure that you send a nutritious snack (fruit, raw vegetables, crackers, etc.) daily as I do not provide snacks for students. Also, please do not send juice boxes to school as all students have access to the water fountain.
Every Friday is Spirit Wear Day! Please encourage your child to wear orange and blue to show their school spirit!
