COMPASS CARES: THE FIRST EVENT WAS A SUCCESS!
Last week, we held our first Compass Cares event, which involved student volunteers creating more than 65 rope toys to support animal care at Anderson Humane. This event featured a great deal of teamwork and an opportunity to build community among students and staff while supporting a worthy cause. Students who participate in Compass Cares events demonstrate community commitment and global citizenship while earning service hours. Students who earn the required number of hours of service credit and engage in reflective opportunities afterwards may earn a .5 elective credit. Information on the next Compass Cares event will be shared soon.

5ESSENTIALS PARENT SURVEY- DUE MARCH 11- COMPASS IS NOW LISTED!
District 303 participates in the annual Illinois 5Essentials Survey that anonymously collects feedback from our students, teachers, and parents. PREVIOUSLY, THE LINK DID NOT GIVE COMPASS ACADEMY AS AN OPTION, BUT THAT HAS SINCE BEEN UPDATED.
The Parent Survey is currently open and will remain so through March 11, 2022. WE ARE REQUESTING THAT ALL PARENTS COMPLETE THIS SURVEY. To take the survey, please visit https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois/ and select the appropriate survey.
On behalf of the Illinois State Board of Education, the Illinois 5Essentials Survey is administered online by UChicago Impact at the University of Chicago. The survey gathers data related to five indicators that can predict important student outcomes, including improved attendance and larger test score gains. These five indicators that affect and predict school success are:
Effective Leaders
Collaborative Teachers
Involved Families
Supportive Environments
Ambitious Instruction
We value your feedback and appreciate you taking the time to provide us with your input. For more information about the Illinois 5Essentials Survey, or if you have any questions or concerns, please contact 5Essentials Client Services at 1-866-440-1874 or 5essentials@uchicago.edu.

JOB SHADOWING OPPORTUNITIES IN ST. CHARLES
The city of St. Charles is once again offering job shadowing opportunities for Compass Academy students on Wednesdays! In the city's career pathway job shadow program, Compass students can shadow people in many career fields, including engineering, communications, accounting, firefighting, law enforcement, construction, and vehicle maintenance.
Students may schedule up to three different job shadow experiences per school year, during which they can explore work sites, ask questions, see demonstrations, and learn about education and certifications. Students will be responsible for transportation to and from the City. The date, time, and length of the job shadow will be scheduled outside of school hours directly with the City’s job shadow program coordinator. Compass students should schedule their shadowing on Wednesdays whenever possible.
Interested students should complete the Registration Form and return it to Ms. Ohlson at Compass Academy.
