HSD -Title 6 October Newsletter
Native American/Alaska Native Education Program
Happy Fall!
I enjoyed meeting virtually with families at the Parent Advisory Meeting last month. Great connecting and hearing from staff and parents. Thank you to all who will be stepping into new roles on the Parent Advisory Board. I look forward to electing new and current board members on Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2021. I encourage you to take the time to be a part of the Parent Advisory Committee Meetings. These meetings are a great way to hear about what resources are available to our students. This month we will have our Tribal History TOSA join us and gather our feedback for lessons scheduled during Native American Heritage Month. We will also hear from other staff about programs in the district.
Also, if you need to get connected to services at your student's school, please reach out to Jenny or me. We are here to help you navigate the resources available to support your student.
In Solidarity,
Daria & Jenny

The Washington County Chamber works collaboratively with community partners to put on Career Related Learning events as well as Extended Learning Opportunities (ELOs) to help students explore the vast array of careers in our community and practice professional skills. COVID-19 has not stopped this work, just modified what it looks like. Events and placements will still occur this year, but rather than be in person and individualized by students, the Chamber is organizing group virtual events for students to participate in.
All events and guest speakers will be recorded so that students can access the information even if they were unable to attend the “live” event.
Please check out their site for events, and as always connect with your School to Career Counselors as they are incredible resources.
In addition, please refer to our Hillsboro School District internship site for additional information, click here.
