A weekly update from the West Bloomfield School District
May 15, 2020
In the West Bloomfield School District, we've begun preparations for next fall; while there are many unknowns, it is clear student learning will need to evolve.
Our District Learning Design team, consisting of teachers and administrators, has developed three plans within our Classroom to Cloud (C2C) Framework for Learning. Each plan considers the specific needs of our students, families and staff, including health and well-being, childcare, food service, technology, and personalized learning.
Our C2C Framework gives our entire district a clear roadmap to learning. We are very proud of the innovative and collaborative work of our stakeholders as we continue to lead the way in virtual education. We will be sharing the details of these plans with our community soon!
Let Your Voice Be Heard!
We've prepared the following resource complete with talking points and contact information for our elected officials both at the state and national level.
Thank you for doing your part to advocate for our students.

Sneak Peek - WBMS Classrooms
Work continues on the new West Bloomfield Middle School and we are beyond excited for what this new facility will mean for the students and families within our district. This 21st century educational space will help us continue to revolutionize instruction in our school district especially at the middle school level.
Recently, the school's architects had some renderings of the learning spaces within the building and we were too excited to keep them to ourselves.
For more information on the project including a time lapse video of the building's construction, please visit the project's webpage.
Senior Spotlights - Class of 2020
To help celebrate our seniors at OEC and WBHS, we've created our Senior Spotlight social media posts. We will be posting these recognitions to our seniors throughout the spring and summer. Please find your school's Senior Spotlight Google Form and share their information including a high resolution senior photo with the PR and Marketing department today:
SchoolMessenger SMS Messaging Support - Opt In
Our district recently started to utilize the SchoolMessenger system to deliver text messages, straight to your mobile phone with important information about events, school closings, safety alerts and more. This resource is on top of the emails and phone messages you already receive from SchoolMessenger.
You can participate in this service just by sending a text message of “Y” or “Yes” to our district’s short code number, 67587.
You can also opt-out of these messages at any time by simply replying to one of our
messages with “Stop”.
SchoolMessenger is compliant with the Student Privacy PledgeTM, so you can rest assured that your information is safe and will never be given or sold to anyone.

WB Township Library Information
News from the West Bloomfield Township Public Library
Library Update May 11, 2020
We know you want access to materials from the large collections in our Library buildings. However, based on Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s Executive Orders 2020-69 and 2020-77, public libraries must still suspend all service.
We continue to plan for a gradual phased reopening of the Main Library and Westacres Branch, and we hope the Governor’s next set of orders will allow us to begin Phase 1 of resuming service.
Phase 1 of reopening includes:
- Opening book drops so all materials checked out before we closed can be returned. NO OVERDUE FINES will be assessed for these returned materials.
- Resuming service from the Drive-Up Service Window at the Main Library.
- Allowing holds to be placed on materials.
- Providing parking lot pick-up (a no contact to-go service) for materials you request through the online catalog, by phone, by email or chat.
One of our goals now, and when we resume service, is the continued health and safety of our community and staff. Please check our website and follow the Library on social media for the latest information about when we will begin Phase 1 of reopening.
Check out our district and building calendars in order to stay up to date on all events going on in our district!
