We will host a schoolwide assembly on Friday, January 6th where we will reiterate The Golden Rule (Treat others the way you wish to be treated!) and how it comes alive in our building each day! The challenge for each person at GME will be to show at least 2 acts of kindness by the end of the school year - these will be represented in the main hallway - be sure to check it out when you are at the school! Our goal is 1000 Acts of Kindness!

The BIG question is: Should bubblegum be allowed in school?

According to Writing Standard #1: Text Types & Purposes, set forth by the State of Ohio, kindergarten-6th grade students are expected to "Write arguments to support claims in an analysis of substantive topics or texts, using valid reasoning and relevant and sufficient evidence."

GME is working hard to improve our ACHIEVEMENT on the State Report Card! The Writing portion of the state test offers the 3rd-6th grade students an opportunity to earn up to 10 points for their writing.

What does a GOOD PARAGRAPH include?

A TOPIC sentence or CONTROLLING idea that tells what the paragraph is all about!

At least THREE sentences that develop, support or elaborate on the topic with more detail.

A CONCLUSION sentence that summarizes the paragraph!

Here are some pointers on how YOU can HELP your CHILD at HOME with WRITING:

1. Expect your child to write in complete sentences!

2. Expect your child to begin the sentence with a capital letter and end with a punctuation mark (period, exclamation mark or question mark.)

3. Expect your child to write at least 5 sentences per paragraph.

Please reach out to your child's teacher if you want to learn more about how to support your child's WRITING at home!

GME Testing Schedule

Begins January 3rd- ALL 9-12 (4th-6th grade) will TEST in SCIENCE

Begins January 17th - ALL 6-9 (1st-3rd grade) will TEST in ELA & MATH

Begins January 9th - ALL Kindergarten will TEST in ELA & MATH

As a reminder, all Montessori 6th graders whose residence is WEST of 75 will automatically roll into Gamble Montessori High School. Families may opt-out of the seat if choosing to attend another CPS school. Please contact Brittany in the main office if you have any questions!
