A Good Article
Just recently NEA Today, our Educator Newsletter, published an article entitled "Social Media's
Impact on Students’ Mental Health Comes Into Focus" Kira Barrett. It is an interesting perspective on the relationship of social media use to the deterioration of real-life communication. Check out the article HERE.

5 Morning Volunteers
Can you help us out once a week from 7:45 am - 8:30 am? We are looking for 5 volunteers (one for each day of the week) to help us with our student Temporary ID's. There is a heavy need for volunteers to issue temporary ID's first thing in the morning when our Main Office and LRC staff are already at peak business. An extra set of hands would be helpful in getting this task accomplished. Please contact
Meghan Cannon in the LRC if this is something you would be able to help us out with on a regular basis. We would so appreciate your help!
Please Talk to Your Students about using the Crosswalks
We have had several bus drivers report of students crossing both Kirk and Dunham in the middle of the roadway and not using the designated crosswalks. These roads are very dangerous with vehicles moving at high rates of speed, some relatively inexperienced drivers entering and exiting the high school and inattentive walkers. This is a recipe for disaster. Please remind them to use the crosswalks and traffic signals when crossing these streets. The safety and well-being of our students is our first priority.
Picture Retakes - October 29th
- Retakes are for students who were absent, new or need a retake.
- If you want to have your student's pictures retaken, you MUST RETURN the entire portrait package from our September 24th picture day.

This quarter, Business Explore is having a marketplace experience. The goal is to exhibit student products developed in the incubator environment. The event will be held in our library on October 23rd, during periods 1, 2, 4, 5, and 7. We welcome a visit from you along with your input on their efforts!
- Period 1 (8:30 am - 9:22 am)
- Period 2 (9:26 am -10:18 am)
- Period 4 (11:18 am -12:10 pm)
- Period 5 (12:14 pm -1:06 pm)
- Period 7 (1:42 pm-2:34 pm)
If you can’t make it in person, please check in to the marketplace site that the students have designed to share their products with potential customers. Students are looking forward to participation from their parents, teachers, and peers!
Regards,
David Hancock

WMS Jazz Ensemble Plays at Pheasant Run
Last Sunday the WMS Jazz Ensemble played a great concert at the Pheasant Run Resort. Our RedHawk musicians made a great showing in their performance, especially after only one month of practice! The professional Big Band who was performing graciously welcomed our group on the stage and the audience was appreciative of the efforts put forth. Check out the photos, and even a video, below!
Just a Couple of Quick Reminders
1) NO outside drinks (Starbucks, Dunkin) will be allowed in the AM
2) Parents can only drop off lunch for their own child - not a group
3) We DO NOT accept or sign for delivered lunches for students - do not order for delivery.
More Team Event News...
Our 7th-Grade as a whole has a make a difference cause for the year. We have partnered with the Brighton Gardens Senior Center to do monthly activities. The seniors have visited Wredling for a "Relay for Life" relay races and the "Into the Woods Jr." musical. We look forward to spending time in November for Veterans Day and December to watch Elf and make crafts. We also plan on starting to "pen paling" with the seniors. Our 7th-graders are making us proud with their interactions with our senior community.
