Transgender Day of Remembrance

"Boys Don't Cry" Film Screening and Discussion

Join us for Transgender Day of Remembrance, a day that "honors the memory of those whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence." (GLAAD)

The event will begin with tabling to share trans* history and information. Later in the evening, we will screen "Boys Don't Cry," with a facilitated discussion immediately following.

Based on a true story, "Boys Don't Cry" was adapted from the life story of Brandon Teena, a transgender man who suffered tragic consequences simply by living his authentic life. A true story about hope, fear, and the courage it takes to be yourself, "Boys Don't Cry" is critically acclaimed and was nominated for two Golden Globe Awards (Fox Searchlight).

Rated R for violence including an intense brutal rape scene, sexuality, language and drug use. (IMDB)
