From the Principal's Desk / Desde el escritorio del director
Parents and padres,
I hope you all are well. Estoy muy entusiasmado por poder compartir este enlace con ustedes. It is a link that shares 7 different Apps that you can try in order to practice in learning a language at home. Quisiera animarles a usar unas de esas aplicaciones con sus hijos. I have not tried them all, but I have a few of them. Duolingo es bien divertido. Let me know which one is your favorite as you have fun with you kids learning Spanish, too. Espero que este tipo de diversión con sus hijos va a brindar una motivación nueva y fresca para querer seguir aprendiendo el español. Also, I have to thank you all for being such wonderful supporters of our school and our community. Ustedes me hacen muy feliz y estoy bien orgulloso de ser su director.
Always and siempre,
Sr. Kellito

PTA News
Zarrow Parents:
I had the unique opportunity and privilege to take part in TPS' Principal for the Morning last Friday, February 26. I knew it would be an exciting adventure and the day didn't disappoint. Like every last Friday of the month, the day started with an all-school assembly which I got to lead...in the language of the day...Spanish. I grew up in Massachusetts speaking French but thanks to many hours helping my children with homework, I think the points at least got across! I sat in on a teacher evaluation and the best part was walking in the classrooms seeing our children's teaching in progress.
What was reinforced throughout the day is that Sr. Kellito's door is always open; even when he is working on something, the door is open for us to come in. He is encouraging to parents, students and staff, even when those students are not there for the best reasons. Our teachers are provided with positive reinforcements of lessons learned and encouragement to try new things; to do better...for our children.
The 5th graders were working on a timeline from the Revolutionary Era that coincides with the Wax Museum they recently participated in. Sra. Lagers found a super cool app that when an iPad is placed over their project's character, that student's performance appears and you can hear and see their presentation. Some time, talk to Sra. Lagers about it and have her show you; the 5th graders did an incredible job!
I am constantly reminded that our kids are getting an amazing education. More importantly, that great education is being done in a second language by a staff that is first rate! Every staff member - principal, teacher, before/after care staff, custodial staff, cafeteria workers, office - cares greatly about each child that walks through the doors of Zarrow. You see it every day. We parents are the fortunate ones who get to have our children under the care of these incredible staff members. I am grateful for the opportunity I had, as it reinforced just how incredible they all are.
