Lake View High School was originally founded under the name Harris School in the year 1905. Harris School had one teacher and seven students and occupied a frame building 36' x 40'. Instruction was offered through the first seven grades. Harris School became known as Lake View in September 1911.

Students are required to follow all school and district policies

Lake View requires students to be in every class for 90% of the assigned days in the fall semester and spring semesters to meet the minimum attendance for credit requirements required by the Texas Education Code.

• Credits can and will be revoked for non-attendance
• You will be called in by Mr. Beck if attendance becomes an issue

Credits Needed to be classified as a:

Freshman 0- 5.5 credits

Sophomore 6-11.5 credits

Junior 12-17.5 credits

Senior 18+ credits

REMINDER: In High School you have to EARN credits. You must meet required credit count to be classified as the next grade level.

Do not remain in the parking lot, or loiter around or in between buildings

Main Building Front Doors open at 7:20

E-Building/Vocational/JROTC open 7:45

Cafeteria opens at 7:45am and closes at 8:10am

• Students are allowed to eat on the back patio, cafeteria, front patio
• Students are not allowed to go to teachers rooms to eat
• If having food delivered (lunch time only) at designated area along 43rd by the food truck area

Freshmen and Sophomores- Not allowed to leave campus for any reason unless signed out by a guardian

Juniors and Seniors- may leave campus at lunch but must be completely away from campus within ten minutes after the bell rings

If a student is failing a course, tutorials will be mandatory at lunch until you are released by your teacher.

REMINDER: Students who choose not to attend Acceleration/Enrichment are subject to disciplinary action.

If you are assigned principal detention, it will be held during the 2nd half of lunch

• Students will have the opportunity to recover courses that failed by attending Saturday school, summer school, during lunch, accelerated class, or completing lessons on their own time and taking tests at school during lunch, before or after school.
• Counselors will review a student's academic records to assign credit recovery opportunities.
• Edgenuity is the internet program used by San Angelo ISD for credit recovery.

Students will utilize e-hallpass as needed. ID's should be ready to present in order to verify your pass. Students will be required to leave cell phone in the classroom while using the restroom.

The district's dress code teaches grooming and hygiene, prevents disruption, minimizes safety hazards, and maintains a positive learning climate. Students and parents may determine a student's personal dress and grooming standards, provided they comply with the following:

• All clothing should be worn for the purpose for which it was designed
• No undergarments should be visible or worn as outerwear
• Shirts/Blouses must overlap pants and not show bare midriffs.
• Holes and shredding in pants, jeans, and other wear shall not reveal undergarments
• Students' hair will not distract from the learning atmosphere
• Students must wear shoes at all times except as may be required in certain physical education activities
• Sunglasses may not be worn in the building
• No headgear shall be worn on campus, inside or outside. This includes but is not limited to hats, caps, and bandanas. Headbands are permissible. Students may keep a cap in their athletic/band/PE locker for sun protection during approved outside activities.
• Tattoos that are considered to be gang related, vulgar or offensive will not be permitted to be visible
• Students may not wear unusual costumes that attract attention and detract from learning atmosphere
• Any attire related to negative group behavior (gangs, etc.)will not be permitted
• Students may not wear slogan buttons or clothing with inappropriate or violent slogans or advertising
• Chains are not allowed
• Student dress for social functions will be determined by the sponsors of these functions

No cell phones are to be used on campus with the exception of before school, after school, and at lunchtime. They will be subject to confiscation with a $15 fee to get it back.
