Kindergarten Hoppenings

Ms. Williams' Class October 24, 2013

This week we are learning the pink song and how to spell the word pink. The children read and illustrated Fall Colors during reading time.

Here is a fun video we watch to help us learn the four seasons!

4 Seasons in a Year (kids song)

During math time, the students are learning beginning additions concepts. They play fun games such as double roll and record, collect 15 and double compare to practice counting sets of objects together and counting on from a number. Also they are working on counting by 10's and 5's.

We had a doctor visit kindergarten today! Dr. Carlson talked to the students about his job, what they can expect when they go to a doctor, the tools he uses (the were so excited about the rubber gloves) and how he helps our community!

During writing time, the children started writing and illustrating their own books. They chose to write about something that they are interested in...students are writing and illustrating books about dragons, dinosaurs, flowers, race cars and dogs, just to name a few!

The students enjoy listening to stories at the listening center and on the computer during literacy time! This is a fun was to build interest in books, learn expression when reading aloud and story retelling. Here is a link to a great online story site.
