Lynnhaven Elementary

Mrs. Teri Breaux - Principal

Mr. Matthew Fischi - Assistant Principal

Home of the Lions!

Message from the Principal

The first quarter is a wrap, and I am so proud of the accomplishments of our students and teachers. Thank you for supporting your children this first quarter with getting into routines and connecting with teachers on how to best support your child at home. With the end of the quarter, students are encouraged to set goals for themselves. Please help continue the encouragement throughout the next quarter, as it is especially essential in this next quarter where we have a lot of holidays that break up the learning.

Also as we enter into November, the month of giving thanks, I want each and every one of you to know just how thankful we are for our families. Thank you for supporting your children every day, getting them to school on time, and loving them endlessly. Without our amazing community, our school would not be the wonderful place that it is. Thank you for being an integral part of the home and school connection. I wish each and every one of you a month filled with love and gratitude!

Sincerely,

Teri Breaux

Our amazing Lions raised over $500 for United Way! Thank you all for your generous donation of change! We can't wait to see Breaux and Fischi get slimed at our next Lions' League Pep Rally!

Attendance

Each month we will post our attendance totals.

Our goal is to have 98% or more attendance every month.

We were close in September and October. Let's do it in November! Remember, every day counts, and we need our students in school every day!

September Attendance - 97.01%

October Attendance - 97.06%

Reading Teacher of the Year

Congratulations to Mrs. McGuire-Day, Lynnhaven Elementary's Reading Teacher of the Year! Mrs. Day is our Library Media Specialist who uses text and technology to engage students. Students love going to the library for lessons with Mrs. Day! She is always upbeat and positive, and she makes our students think critically. Mrs. Day is tremendous and well-deserving of this recognition!

Fire Lanes

Please be mindful of the fire lanes on school grounds. Vehicles should not be unoccupied in a fire lane. This is becoming an issue at parent pick up where cars are parking in the fire lane by the fire hydrant. We received a warning in October when the Fire Marshal visited Lynnhaven. If he/she returns to find unoccupied vehicles in fire lanes, they may be subject to ticketing. Thank you for your help!

R.E.D. Day

Friday, November 8th is R.E.D. Day in honor of all our military families. Remember Everyone Deployed and wear RED on that day!

Veterans Day

Monday, November 11, 2019, VBCPS will be closed for staff and students in honor of Veterans Day. Thank you to all the Veterans for all they gave and continue to give for our freedom.

Make - Up Picture Day

Make-Up Individual Fall pictures will be taken on Friday, November 15.

Amazing Race to being Respectful, Responsible, and Ready to Learn!

Mark your calendars for Tuesday, November 19th from 5:30-7:00 p.m. Students and families will be racing around Lynnhaven to learn more about our school-wide expectations for our amazing Lynnhaven Lions! The night will conclude with something parents will find valuable to take home and who can pass up snacks? We will provide refreshments to those who rsvp. Please be on the lookout for the flyers to come home soon! Can't wait to have a packed house!

Adjusted Dismissal

The day before Thanksgiving will be an adjusted dismissal day. On November 24th, students will be dismissed at 12:10 p.m. If you plan to bring your child lunch or come in to have lunch on that day, please be mindful the lunch schedule is also altered for the day. Students eat an hour earlier in order to accommodate all students before dismissal.

Physical Education (P.E.) and Recess

As the weather gets cooler, students will still be going outside for P.E. and recess many days. Please make sure your child dresses appropriately for cooler weather, and don't forget those tennis shoes!

Art of Being a Military Child

Is your child interested in submitting their artwork into the contest below? If so, please have him/her see Mrs. Jones, art teacher, for card stock.

All art submissions are due December 18, 2019.
