What is the water footprint?

The water footprint is the amount of fresh water utilized in the production or supply of the goods and services used by a particular person or group.

Types of water

EXAMPLES.

  • TOMATO: it takes 50 litres of water to produce a tomato. 50% of the water is green, 30% blue and 20% grey.
  • T-SHIRT: it takes 2500 litres of water to produce a cotton t-shirt. 54% of the water is green, 33% blue and 13% is grey.
