Read -a -Thon School Competition
HSA-Plano has raised $1,150 for books and reading so far! Ms Adam's third grade class is leading with $230. Great job students!
Read-A-Thon encourages our students to develop long lasting reading habits. We will use the funds to support new books and decorations in our library.
Garden Day, Saturday, Oct 20th, 8 AM - 12 PM
For those interested in helping and advising, there will be an informational meeting at 6:30 PM on October 18th during Passport Night. We need construction experience, tools, and anyone with a love for Gardening! Hope to see you there!
Fall Parent Academy, Wednesday, Nov. 7, 5-6 PM
They will discuss difficulties that some students have, and give strategies for helping students who struggle with reading. These will include identifying students with dyslexia, servicing and improving reading with dyslexia, reading strategies, and exercising the brain through reading.

Word-of-Mouth is the most common way families hear about our school. HSA-Plano enrolls students all year round. Do you have any friends or family who are interested in HSA-Plano? You can forward this newsletter to them and they can apply by clicking here.
Any family who refers a new student will receive a free uniform and spirit shirt for every new student! We have spaces available in the following grades. If a grade has a waiting list, please encourage your friends to still apply, space can still open up.

You may be Eligible for Free or Reduced prices for Breakfast and Lunch
You may be eligible for free or reduced lunch prices. Even if your student brings their lunch from home, we would like to have all parents fill out a lunch application.
You can do so here. You only need your student's Skyward ID. We will send a letter reminder in the mail to all parents who still need to fill out a lunch application!
HSA-Plano school lunch policy
Meal Charge Policy
Nutritious meals are available daily for a price of $ $1.70 for breakfast, $$3.00, and $0.50 for an a la carte milk. Each student is provided a lunch account onto which money may be deposited. Households are also encouraged to create an account in School Café (www.schoolcafe.com). From here, parents may apply for free or reduced price meals, check account balances, make meal payments, set-up automatic alerts, and set-up automatic payments. If you need your child’s ID number, please call the school and ask to speak with the Lunch Clerk.
A la Carte purchases and lunck balances
Students are not allowed to purchase a la carte items if their account has a $0 or negative balance. If they are purchasing a milk, we will allow them one charge as a courtesy. The Lunch Clerk will inform the student and parent that there must be funds in the meal account for a la carte purchases. The next attempt to purchase a la carte items will be denied until the account shows a positive balance.
The district charge limit applies to reimbursable meals only and not a la carte purchases.
Should a student’s meal account balance fall below $0, he/she will be allowed to charge up to negative (-) $10.00. Once the negative meal account balance limit is reached, the student will receive an alternate meal. If a student is later approved for free meals, they will begin receiving meals immediately. However, the household is still responsible for paying the negative account balance. For more information regarding the meal charge policy. Annual Asbestos Report
Each year, Harmony schools conduct an asbestos study to make sure our school is safe from asbestos. Last report, there was no asbestos detected. Please feel free to read the report here.
Testing in Quarter 1
In the beginning of each year, Harmony tests the current levels of our students. These tests help teachers teach to each student's level. There are no actions parents need to take to prepare students for these tests. Teachers will share the results of these scores during parent-teacher conferences on October 4th.

Purpose: Assess level of students in Math, Reading, Language (grades 2-6), and Science (grades 4-6), compares level to National average

Our Arrival and Drop Off Plan
-All students should be dropped off each morning through the back of the school by 8:00 AM (Drive Line 2).
- At 3:15, parents will use one of two lines to pick up their children:
- Drive Line 1 is for all PreK-2nd grade students with no siblings in grades 3-6
- Drive Line 2 is for all students grades 3rd - 6th AND all PreK - 2nd grade students who do have a sibling in grades 3-6
- When clubs and tutorials begin, dismissal at 3:45 will be in Drive Line 2 for all students.
IMPORTANT: When exiting Talbert and exiting onto Mapleshade, PLEASE FORM TWO LANES. TURNING LEFT AND BLOCKING TRAFFIC WILL CAUSE SERIOUS DELAYS.

3. There are no student microwaves available to students. Please plan accordingly!
