Parent Newsletter of Triangle Elementary School

April 17, 2020

Big picture
Hello Triangle Families!

This past month has been very different and challenging for all of us. I hope you and your families are doing well as we adjust to our "new normal". I wanted to provide an update to all families as we move to our "Virtual Schoolhouse".

Each week on Monday, all grade levels will be provding about 60 minutes of activity for each subject area per week, including our encore areas! This will be done through different methods (seasaw, Microsoft Teams, DOJO, etc.), however all the information will be linked to the teacher webpages through the Triangle Website. You can use the schedule that we provided, or you may choose to complete activities at different times that work for your schedule. Please know, all work and activities are optional through the remainder of the year. We encourage our students to continue to complete activites to keep their skills sharp!

Along with the 60 minutes of activity per subject area per week, our teachers will be completing a minimum of 2 "check ins" per week with the families. These "check ins" can be completed through email, phone calls, text messages, DOJO messages, zoom meetings, Microsoft TEAMS meetings, etc. Please be sure your child's teacher has an updated email address or way of connecting with you.

All of our teachers will also have 1-60 minute "office hour" block per week. This hour is dedicated to respond to questions that you may have on any assignments, and for clarification of topics. Our teachers are always very responsive, however this 1 hour per week is a really good time to connect if needed. Each teachers' office hours are listed in a document on this newsletter along with their email address.

Please know that we are here for you! We are providing the review materials so that students can continue their learning and deepen their understanding of the topics that have been taught. We miss seeing our Champion Tigers, but we know we will see them soon!

I encourage you to reach out to your child's teacher with any specific questions you may have. Also, check out the Prince William County Webpage, on the "home learning" link for even more activities to complete at home.

Please Stay Well and Stay Safe during this time!

Registration Information

My name is Olympia Asselanis, and I am the Registrar at Triangle Elementary. We are currently taking applications for Kindergarten registration. This year, it will be done online. In order to begin the process, follow the link below:

Scroll down, then click on Enrollment Information to begin your online registration.

Once the online process is complete, an in-person meeting is required to verify your student's original and/or certified copy of the birth certificate. At that time, other required documents which were not submitted online must be presented to complete the enrollment process. Currently, we have no timeline regarding our school's reopening date.

If your student's first language is not English, or if another language besides English is spoken, you will be contacted by our Global Welcome Center so your child can be assessed for additional services.

Finally, if you have a Head-Start student who will be attending Triangle in the fall, you need not complete an on-line registration. The Head Start office will "project" your student into Kindergarten. You would need to present proof of residency (lease, deed or affidavit of residency) and the original/certified copy of the birth certificate once school has reopened.

I check e-mails daily, so please feel free to contact me at: Thank you for your patience during this most difficult time. I look forward to working with you.

Stay well, and be healthy.
