Together in Learning and Faith
Second Sunday of Advent, December 8, 2019
Advent Prayer Every Morning
We will continue to gather each morning in the gym at 9:00 am as a faith community to prepare for the coming of Jesus Christ. We will be building our Jesse tree together and learning about our faith heritage with Bible stories from the moment of creation to Jesus' birth.
Please join us every morning at 9:00 am in the gym.
Advent Concert this Thursday
This Thursday Our Lady of the Angels Catholic School is pleased to be presenting our 2nd Annual Advent Concert. We will be hosting two shows; a morning performance at 9:15 am (doors open at 8:45 am), and an evening performance at 6:30 pm (doors open at 6:00 pm).
In order to ensure that we stay within fire regulations, and that everyone has a seat to enjoy the performance, tickets will be required for the evening performance. Advent concert tickets are free and were sent home last week with the oldest child in each family. (Students in 2C and Pre-K/Kinder Tuesday/Thursday will receive their tickets next week.)
Additional evening performance tickets will be provided on a first come, first served basis. If you wish to request additional tickets please send us an email to: ola@eics.ab.ca. (Please note, siblings attending the evening performance will require a ticket.)
If you find you have received tickets that you will not need please let us know and we will gratefully share them with another family – we are hoping to accommodate all the guests who would like to join us for our Advent Concert!
The VIP Concert Experience . . .
Want to have the best seats in the house for our annual Advent Concert and help us fundraise for our OLA School Social Justice Projects? Here's how you can!
This year we are once again pleased to offer a chance to win TWO comfortable FRONT ROW VIP SEATS, VIP PARKING and A LITTLE PAMPERING for the evening performance of our Advent Concert on December 12th. (Winners may still request an additional ticket . . . but they will not be reserved VIP seating.)
Tickets are $1.00 each, 6 for $5.00, or a whole sheet for $10.00 and you may enter as many times as you like. Please contact the office at 780-998-3716 if you would like more draw tickets. Tickets must be returned to school before noon on Wednesday, December 11th - we will be drawing our six lucky winners at 1:00 pm.
WE HAVE 6 DIFFERENT VIP PACKAGES TO GIVE AWAY – GOOD LUCK!
The proceeds from the ticket sales will be shared between OLA School's two social justice projects:
- Our Chalice International Foster Child – Ivo Mapunda from Tanzania
- Catholic Social Services Valeda House.
OLA's goal is to raise $700 and we have a ways to go.
Thank you for helping us reach our goal and spread God's love.
Plus, you could win two VIP seats (comfy chairs, prime parking and a little pampering!)
We appreciate your generosity and support - God Bless!
Please help...
Advent Concert Request from Mrs. Lukie
Mrs. Lukie is looking for donations of battery operated tea lights (that work please) for our Advent Concert in December. Thank you.
The Sparkle Box & The Giving Tree
To help un-burden hearts a little and to spread joy and light, we have a Giving Tree in our front entrance. There you will see all kinds of items that people have donated or will donate, from mitts, tuques, jackets, food, backpacks, diapers, Christmas gifts for children, teens or adults.
You and your family are invited to spread joy and light by placing your donations there, and we will help ensure they find their way to the hearts of those in our community. Donating is something that you can put in your "Sparkle Box..." Ask your child about it if they have had a chance to read with Mme Gravelle!
Helping OLA Get Into the Spirit of Christmas
We are looking for families who would be willing to donate:
- a few Christmas Trees
- Some Christmas lights,
- Christmas and winter decorations
- White table cloths (of any size)
- A manger with hay
Love decorating? You are welcome to come and decorate the school! Some of the Servant Leadership Team members would be delighted to help you!
If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Buban, Mme Gravelle or Mrs. Weller at 780-998-3716 ext. 1.
