Heading Into March
2. As March rolls around, I wanted to give you a heads up on some things. This Sunday's youth praise we have a guest speaker - Daniel Zhang from HCC coming to speak to us on the topic of suffering and the Gospel. Members, be sure to take advantage of discipleship in real time every chance you see each other physically. So sometime on Sunday or Friday, you should be able to meet with your discipleship person and at least pray and update each other. You want to eventually, get to a point of growing deeper in your conversations but also shaping each other towards holiness and Christ-likeness.
3. DG leaders & College Sponsors - as we try to do every year around this time, we want to highlight the core value of "missions" a bit more during the month of March. Work together as a team to see which group or organization you can come alongside and minister to. Perhaps there's a pulse in your DG that desires to really reach out to a specific cause or need in the city or around the world - if that's the case then set vision for your group to see how yall can step into fulfilling that need. We want to use the month of March to think outside ourselves and act on what we know is true.

Article // Rhett & Link, YouTubers Popular With Youth, Deconstruct Their Faith // 02.17.20
Question: What happens when popular figures & youth youth influencers deny & reject their faith?
My kids love Rhett & Link’s Ear Biscuits podcast, but a recent episode where the hosts deconstruct their faith really rocked their worlds. How should youth leaders respond when these things happen?
Social media has made this feel personal and intimate. This is a new cultural phenomena. It’s different. We need to pay attention. "Out of curiosity, I took about five minutes to read through the comments on the Ear Biscuits podcast and was struck that well over 90 percent of the comments I read were affirming of their decision to leave the Christian faith. Many commented on how they have shared these same struggles and were quite relieved to know they are not alone."

One of the most venerable organizations in the United States, the Boy Scouts of America has declared bankruptcy and asked for Chapter 11 protection. As Kim Christensen of Los Angeles Times tells us, "The Scouts made their Chapter 11 petition in Delaware in that states bankruptcy court, and the pleading comes amid declining membership and a wave of new sex abuse lawsuits after several states, including California, New York, and New Jersey, recently expanded legal options for childhood victims to sue."
