Una nota de la Sra. Larson/ A note from Mrs. Larson

Hola Wonderful McKinley Mustangs

Hello Wonderful McKinley Mustangs

I am so excited to announce the kick-off for our biggest fundraiser of the year! The McKinley/PACS jogathon. Without your amazing support, Mckinley/PACS would not have all of our wonderful programs.

PTA Supports:

1. Our classrooms: Each teacher is given money for their classrooms.

2. Field Trips: Contributes to the cost of field trips.

3. Special programs

4. Needs of the school (audio systems, robotics, bilingual libraries)

5. Community events (Winter carnival, salsa festival, bingo, and Intercambio)

We are so proud of all the hard work our PTA and staff put into making McKinley great!

SITE COUNCIL

We need you! Every two years we have to change our school site council board and ask for parents to sit on our McKinley / PACS site council. A school site council is a group of teachers, parents, classified employees, and students that works with the principal to develop, review and evaluate school improvement programs and school budgets.

If you are interested in the school site council please email Ani Larson at alarson@Petk12.org. The school site council will meet on the last Thursday (or last Thursday before a break) of the month at 5:30 pm.

Note: If we have many interested, we will have to vote on the parent positions.

Hispanic Heritage Month September 15 - October 15th

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage month, Mrs. Larson will host a special zoom bedtime story.

Please join me on Thursday, September 23 at 7:00 pm. I look forward to seeing you all there!

UPDATE From Our Superintendent on COVID Testing

We recognize that it is getting increasingly more difficult to secure an appointment for a PCR COVID-19 test in our community and any delay in getting tested causes students to miss more school. In order to address this issue, Petaluma City Schools is offering free COVID-19 PCR tests for any student or staff member experiencing symptoms consistent with COVID-19.

Starting Wednesday, September 15th, testing will be offered Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM - 12:00 PM each day at the Petaluma City Schools’ District Office - 200 Douglas Street, Petaluma, CA 94952. Please note that we are not a community testing center and this testing is exclusively for students and staff of Petaluma City Schools. In the coming days, we will add more detailed instructions and support material for your reference on our COVID-19 Hub in advance of Wednesday’s opening.

Please use the appropriate link below to register your child on our testing platform. Pre-registering your child now will help make this a smooth process. Please note that a parent or guardian must register any minor under 18 years old, so please be sure to use the appropriate link when registering. You will give a one-time consent to share results (positive or negative) with the school district.

1. For PCS students/minors:

2. Testing to keep students in school after a positive exposure at school

Since the beginning of the school year, in an effort to keep students in school, we have been conducting this type of testing at school sites where there has been a positive COVID-19 case. Our goal is to keep our students in school and all members of our community safe, so we will continue to offer testing at our school sites to satisfy the requirements of modified quarantine.

Again, please register your student on the testing platform now, before the need arises."

TK/K Welcome to McKinley - Tuesday, September 14th 8am-8:30am

The McKinley PTA will host a "Welcome to McKinley" event for our TK/K families during drop-off on Tuesday, September 14th from 8am - 8:30am directly outside of the office entrance.

Coffee and a light refreshment will be provided.

The PTA would like to welcome you and learn more about what you're wanting in your school community in the years to come. The PTA supports many programs and provides lots of opportunities to create community for you, your child and family.

We'd love to learn more about you and share with you what the PTA is doing at McKinley.

There is never pressure to volunteer! Our primary goal is to ensure that every family feels welcome at McKinley and that we do what we can together to support the best educational opportunity for every child.

Questions? Please contact Staci Stern McKPTAVP@gmail.com

We need two minutes of your time! Fill out this quick form!

Did you know that each classroom at McKinley/PACS has a PTA class liaison (parent/guardian volunteer) who is the point of contact for the PTA in your classrooms?

These volunteers will stay up-to-date on all the happenings with the PTA, help coordinate for things like teacher appreciation and class promotions, and help identify classroom needs.

The PTA class liaison will need to send out email messages from time to time to your entire class, and we need your contact information to do that!

Please fill out this form to give us your contact information. You'll only need to fill it out once for all your students enrolled at McKinley/PACS.

Thank you!
