MHS Remote Learning
Principal's Weekly Update
A message from Principal Sanders...
Teachers have been working hard to ensure students have access to engaging e-learning lessons, as well as hard copy materials for those students without internet access. We hope you are interacting with teachers and other students for meaningful collaboration and continued academic growth. If you have questions about remote learning, please make sure you contact your teachers. Stay healthy, stay safe, and stay connected with learning every day!
Information about Remote Learning can be found on the Remote Learning Information page under the Academics tab on the MHS Website.
Senior Events
We're all anxious to know how important senior milestones, like prom and graduation, will be affected by school closures and "stay at home" orders. Click here for more information.
Dual Credit Course Updates
Students enrolled in BHC dual credit courses through Moline High School should look at this updated information regarding coursework, completion timeline, and grading for college credit.
Construction & Student Safety
Walls are now being constructed for the new MHS PE facility on the southwest corner of campus. It's exciting to see progress on the massive structure, but we have some safety reminders linked here for students' well being.
How parents can support remote learning:
- Help establish an at-home school routine, including a quiet location for study and clear expectations about work completion.
- Establish reasonable times for sleep schedules and provide healthy food options for students to maximize their learning potential and general well-being.
- Teachers are available to help from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., so encourage students to complete work between these hours whenever possible.
- For video conferencing, communicate to students that appropriate attire, location, and behavior are essential to productive conferencing for all. Inappropriate language or behaviors will be communicated both to the student's dean and parents.
- Communicate with your student's teachers about work expectations and/or any concerns you have regarding your student's progress.
- Continue to check Skyward for assignment grades and indications of incomplete work. Although semester grades will be reported as "Pass" or "Incomplete", students must complete satisfactory work in order to earn credit for the semester course.
- Stay up-to-date with commonly asked questions by checking the MHS Remote Learning page and our FAQ Document.
