PTA Book Fair & All for Books Donation
The Book Fair runs from Dec 7-10 and will be held in the Auditorium.
There are THREE great ways to shop!
- Students shop with their classroom. Parents can set up an eWallet - an easy, cashless way for your child to shop. https://www.scholastic.com/bf/mountainavenuees
- After school shopping (2:30-3:15PM on Tues, Dec 7 & Thurs, Dec 9. 1:15-2PM on Wed, Dec 8). This is student-only shopping with 10 students shopping at a time.
- Online shopping. Shop at home with the family at https://www.scholastic.com/bf/mountainavenuees from Dec 6 - Dec 19!
During our Book Fair, we are teaming up with Scholastic to raise money to purchase books for kids in need in our community. Use this link to donate to our Mountain Community eWallet! https://shop.scholastic.com/ewallet/fund?lang=en_US&walletId=3854879
Thank you to everyone for supporting literacy at Mountain Avenue!

PTA Association Meeting & Holiday Luncheon
Join us at our upcoming Association Meeting on Friday, December 10, 2021 at 10:30am in person or via zoom and learn about upcoming PTA events and programs. PTA business will include treasurer and committee reports, Nominating Committee and Honorary Service Awards Committee appointments.
Hope to see you there!
Volunteer PTA Nominating Committee
The Nominating Committee’s job is to nominate, and sometimes recruit, PTA members to be on the slate of officers for our PTA Executive Board for next school year. The Nominating Committee consists of 5 members and 2 alternates. We will elect the Nominating Committee at our December Association Meeting.
Nominating committee members must be a member of Mountain Avenue’s PTA and can’t serve on the nominating committee for two consecutive years. The committee will meet (via zoom) a handful of times to determine the best candidate for each executive board position. You will be walked through the process of nominating officers by our Parliamentarian, Kathy Necus. Contact Kathy Necus at kathnecuspta@gmail.com to submit your name for the committee. Thank you!
PTA Honorary Service Awards Committee
Join our PTA Honorary Service Awards (HSA) Committee and help recognize the service and dedication of individuals and organizations to our community. This committee will meet a couple times in January to review community nominations and select the recipients to be presented at our annual Founders Day event in March. HSA Committee members must be current PTA members and will be appointed at the December 10th Association Meeting.
If you are interested and would like to learn more about the HSA committee, please contact Amelia Lapeña at amlapena.pta@gmail.com. Additional information can be found at https://www.gusd.net/Page/15467.

The Science Fun Fair theme is "Science is Among Us" and the fair will be held over two days, on January 27th and 28th, so that all classes will have an opportunity to view all of the science projects in the auditorium. Science projects are due in the auditorium on Wednesday January 26th.
The deadline to sign up via Signup Genius or by turning in an entry form is Friday, January 14th. The Signup Genius link for the science fair entry form is: ScienceFairGroup: Science Fair Project Signup (signupgenius.com). (https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080a45a4ae23a4f94-science4).
Free poster boards are available and will be given to students in their classroom to take home after they sign up for a poster board on the entry form.
There is no judging, all students who complete science fair projects will receive a ribbon and a certificate. Students will present their science project to their class, and also record a Flipgrid video so that family and friends can view the science fair projects. Flipgrid videos are due by January 21st. A virtual Family Night is planned for Friday, January 28th from 6:30-7:30pm to recognize all of the students and their science fair projects, plus announce the sixth grade paper roller engineering build challenge winners.
