ELAC MEETING
Upcoming Diagnostic I-Ready Assessment
Friday Flash
Parents,
Our next diagnostic assessment with i-Ready will take place during the next two weeks during your child’s instructional day. Some students will take the assessment at 9:30 and some classes will be assessed at 11:00. Students will be tested over a two day period. If your student needs more time to complete the assessment, make-up times will occur January 20th and 21st. Teachers will provide the time and link for make-ups.
What is i-Ready?
i-Ready allows your teacher(s) to meet your student exactly where they are and provides data to increase your student’s learning gains. i-Ready consists of two parts: Diagnostic and Personalized Instruction. The i-Ready Diagnostic is an adaptive assessment that adjusts its questions to suit your student’s needs. Each item a student sees is individualized based on their answer to the previous question. For example, a series of correct answers will result in slightly harder questions, while a series of incorrect answers will yield slightly easier questions. i-Ready Personalized Instruction provides students with lessons based on their individual skill level and needs, so your student can learn at a pace that is just right for them. These lessons are fun and interactive to keep your student engaged as they learn.
Some important tips to remember for the diagnostic:
This is a diagnostic assessment which means teachers will be using the results to guide intervention or enrichment as each student requires it.
These kinds of assessments help teachers determine what students understand in order to build on the students' strengths and address their specific needs.
Online lessons and teacher resources are available for your child that are at a correct skill level for them based on the data that is collected from the assessment.
Please only encourage your child to stay focused and try his or her best. When parents or siblings help with answers the results are skewed and the learning path created for your child will not be accurate.
Please make sure your child has a good breakfast or snack (if they are testing at 11:00) so they can perform at their best.
TECH TIPS
PASSWORDS
What to do If your child happens to change their passcode.
Our IT department cannot remove the passcode if your child changes it and the iPad goes off WiFi. Tech Support cannot clear it.
If it’s an ongoing problem, you can set the passcode then set your child up with Touch ID. Once that is done your child will be able to unlock the iPads with their finger to thumb, but as long as you keep the passcode secret your child will not be able to change it. If your child then disables the iPad then you will have the passcode.
CHARGING PROBLEMS?
Put the case (of the charger) into an outlet WITHOUT THE CORD and charge for a couple hours. Then place the cord back into the charger case. The purpose of this is to let a clear path electricity flow through the case.
