Principal's Message
Last week, we kicked off our PTA Fun Run Fundraiser (BoosterThon). If your Emerson Tiger has not registered for the fundraiser there is still time. Congratulations to Mrs. Delorenzo’s class for winning the free recess with their donations collected last night. We want to thank our PTA leadership, members and volunteers for helping with this activity. Our PTA generously funds so many of the special events our students enjoy such as assemblies, fieldtrips and the Ice Cream Social. The Emerson fun run will be on Tuesday, April 26 and each grade will have their own race time. Please remind your child(ren) to wear their tennis shoes and dress for the weather.
Emerson Race Times/April 26:
- 3rd grade 8:50 to 9:50
- 4th grade 10:05 to 11:05
- 5th grade 12:50 to1:50
- 6th grade 1:50 to 2:50
If you are interested in joining this amazing group of volunteers, please reach out to ptacentralemerson@gmail.com. They have created a fun environment that allows folks to volunteer as little or as much as they are able. To volunteer, you must undergo a Washington State Patrol background check. Click here to complete the online volunteer application process. It is a state requirement that all volunteers are fully vaccinated.
This spring we are also preparing for our upcoming Smarter Balanced tests in math and English language arts and fifth grade students will also take the Washington Comprehension Assessment of Science. Our scheduled assessments are attached below and we appreciate all that you do to help your child come rested and ready to do their personal best and show all they know.
Playground Update: The Net Climber (Tower) is scheduled to arrive by the end of the month in California, then will come by rail to Seattle/Tacoma. Our installers will need about a week for the construction process and concrete to cure before it can be used by students. Our goal is to have the Net Climber installed before the end of the school year. Fingers crossed!!!
I also want to say thank you to all of our volunteers. These last few years have been challenging and we so appreciate your willingness to help out. We appreciate our volunteers, our wonderful PTA leadership and anyone who helps support our students and staff. A big thank you from all of the Emerson staff!
Thank you for sending us such wonderful children. We see so many positive acts of kindness and student leadership each day across our campus.
Go Tigers!

Parent Input Welcome for 2022-2023
We are in the process of preparing classes for the 2022-2023 school year. Our goal is to create classes that are balanced based on student strengths and needs. Report card grades, teacher input, parent input and state test scores are used to assure that we are creating balanced classes.
In addition, we look to shuffle classes from one grade level to the next to assure that students continually have an opportunity to work with new students. Emerson teachers will review each class list thoroughly and will carefully consider how students work together and we will make adjustments to the class lists.
As we start the student placement process, we welcome parent input into this process. If there are specific needs or past history that should be considered and may contribute to the success of your student, we want to consider that information in the placement process. Our goal is to create the most balanced classes as possible while meeting student needs and will take all input into consideration. Please send your input to samuel.hanson@sno.wednet.edu no later than Friday, April 29.

Cinderella - Glacier Peak High School
Are you ready for a little magic in your life? Come see the musical Cinderella presented by theatre students at Glacier Peak High School (7401 144th Place SE in Snohomish).
A bona fide fairy tale, told with the Rodgers & Hammerstein hallmarks of grace, originality, charm and elegance. Originally presented on television in 1957, starring Julie Andrews, Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella was the most widely viewed program in the history of television, drawing an astonishing 107 million viewers. Its recreation in 1965, starring Lesley Ann Warren, was no less successful in transporting a new generation to the miraculous kingdom of “Dreams Come True,” and a second remake in 1997 set a new standard for representation and diversity in screen musicals, starring Brandy as Cinderella and Whitney Houston as her Fairy Godmother. This performance is rated PG.
Tickets for this amazing production are on sale now at www.showtix4u.com/event-details/57312. Adults are $15/each and students/senior citizens/military are $10/each. All tickets must be purchased online. Please select the performance date/time and seat at the time of purchase.
Cinderella premiered Friday, April 15 at 7 p.m. Other dates include Thursday, April 28; Fridays on April 22 and April 29; and Saturdays on April 16, April 23 and April 30. Showtimes are 7 p.m. with additional 2 p.m. matinees on Saturdays.

Once Upon A Mattress - Snohomish High School
Snohomish High School student theatre presents Once Upon A Mattress. The kingdom is under a curse! Queen Aggravain has decreed that no one shall be able to wed until her sweet, beautiful, special boy, Prince Dauntless, gets married. The problem is, no potential princess can pass the queen’s eligibility test. But maybe the unconventional Princess Winnifred can beat the test and undo the curse. Based loosely on the fairy tale, “The Princess and the Pea,” this family-friendly musical has been delighting audiences for over 60 years!
Performances will be held May 6, May 7, May 13, May 14, May 20, and May 21 at Snohomish High School (1316 Fifth Street in Snohomish). Evening performances each day at 7 p.m., Saturday matinees at 1 p.m. Tickets are $15/adults and $10 student/senior citizens (over 65)/military.
