French Fashion Show By: Gina Klemowitz
Just recently, our eighth grade French classes had their annual fashion show. Each year, when the classes add French clothing and accessory vocabulary to their repertoire, they have a fashion show project. The classes choose a theme, get outfits that embody that theme, and take turns describing each other’s outfits as they walk down the runway. The fashion show is a legacy for French students. It is highly anticipated. In sixth and seventh grade, many students look forward to it. When we started the project, we began by watching all the fashion shows from the previous years. Then we decided that that this year, the themes for the two classes were going to be French Wedding and Teen Beach Movie: Bikers vs. Surfers. As you walk into the French room excited, with tension running high, you see a “red carpet” laid out with music that represents your theme. In the fashion show, you get to see everyone dressed up in outfits that they don’t typically wear, you get to have your little moment to shine, and you also get to see other people perform! You take your last walk off the carpet at the end, knowing your year will be another to add onto the legacy of the French fashion show. The outfits for both classes were stunning! In the Teen Beach Movie class, there was a lot of leather for the bikers, and lots of Hawaiian shirts and sunglasses for the surfers. In the French Wedding class, there were a lot of fancy dresses and clothing. There was even a bride, Naji al-Draji, and a groom, Connor Hafto, who certainly made the show interesting. Overall, this year’s fashion shows were all we could ask for and everything we’d hoped for. On behalf of all the French students, I’d like to thank the behind-the-scenes person who made everything perfect for us, Madame Pecheux. This fashion show was an unforgettable experience!
7th and 8th Grade Winter Concert By: Riley Sozio and Brooke Cavanaugh
On December 12th at the TD Bank center in the high school, the 7th and 8th grade Bunker Hill Band, Orchestra, and Chorus preformed for a large audience. Each group of kids practiced over and over again and it paid off. The orchestra preformed Out of the Winter, Christmas Symphony, Adirondack Sleighride, and Carol of the Bells. The band performed Sleigh ride, African Bell Carol, Aggressivo, and To All A Good-Night. The chorus preformed, Carol of the bells, Somewhere in My Memory, Gloria, A Wish for Hanukkah, and Text Me a Merry Christmas. In the finale, everyone preformed Holiday Sing-along. In the orchestra, Naji Al-Draji and Nico Masciangleo helped by accompanying the orchestra with percussion instruments during Adirondack Sleighride. In the chorus, Chelsea Petro, Peyton Bacich, and Ryan Palmer all had solos in Text Me a Merry Christmas. Everyone in the Winter Concert did amazing and we thank all of the staff that helped put this concert together.
Paranormal Highschool By: Riley Sozio
On November 22 and 23, the Bunker Hill Drama Club preformed Paranormal Highschool. This play is about the drama class at Bram Stoker High School, home of the Fighting Tarantulas, wanting to perform Macbeth. As they get into rehearsals, they scoff about the curse of the Scottish play. But then strange things start happening in the theater thanks to the ghosts of two actors from the 1920s. Paranormal investigators from a cheesy TV show, eager for a “real” story, inspect the facility. In the meantime, unaware of the haunting happenings, the principal is hoping the drama program will help Bram-Stoker High win a coveted education award. Everyone did amazing in the play. The drama club worked very hard on this play and it definitely paid off.
