Lakeland Counseling News
Week of November 30- December 4
Holiday Assistance
The Counselors at Lakeland High School are collecting donations for the annual Holiday Assistance program. The donations are used to provide gifts, clothing, and gift cards for food. The program supports approximately 20-25 Lakeland families. Please consider making a donation to the program in one of the following ways:
1) MONETARY DONATION - Cash or Check (payable to Lakeland HS-Holiday Assistance)
2) Select an item or multiple items from a STUDENT'S WISH LIST (items are listed on paper ornaments & available in staff lounge beginning Nov. 16th)
3) ADOPT A FAMILY (provide gifts for all items on a families' wish list)
If you would like to make a donation or need assistance with making arrangements to select paper ornaments, please contact Jenny Alfano at jenny.alfano@hvs.org or (P) 248-676-8329. All gifts and monetary donations are due by December 7th.
OSTC Reminder
The counselors will then determine if the program students are choosing is a good fit. It is important that students update their Educational Development Plan, as well as the Indispensable Skills and Essential Functions of the program they are considering. Please see Ms. Creed in the Career Center or sign up to see your counselor prior to December 10th if there are any questions or concerns about your Educational Development Plan (EDP) or Indispensable Skills and Essential Functions.

FOR THE CREATORS, INNOVATORS AND DREAMERS
That’s right. The Live Más Scholarship is not based on your grades or how well you play sports. No essays, no test scores, no right or wrong answers. We’re looking for the next generation of innovators, creators and dreamers – whose post-high school education we will help fund. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for the next generation. The Taco Bell Foundation will be awarding 220 scholarships to deserving recipients, ranging from $2,500 to $25,000 each.
HOW TO ENTER
Create and submit a video (2 minutes or less in length) that tells us the story of your life’s passion. It could be a short film, animation or just a simple testimonial. This is not about how well you can make a film – we just want you to show us your talents and explain why you should be considered for a Live Más Scholarship.
