SCEC Curriculum Updates
C. Gutierrez October 2020
Greetings from the Curriculum Cordinator
Happy October SCEC family! As we enter our second month of the school year, I want to tell you how excited I am with the progression so far. I was able to sit in this week as your guest administrator for PLC's and appreciated your conversation and collaboration. I want to applaud all of our educators for their continued dedication to our students and families during this digital learning time.

SETTING UP ROUTINES AND PROCEDURES THAT MATTER
Routines and procedures do not happen overnight. Teachers must be ready to support student behavior by creating plans that address them. One way is to prepare by planning out what routines and procedures will be needed to avoid any disruptions. Students need to be told what is expected of their behavior and need to be involved in the creation of procedural norms. Once you establish expectations/norms with students, you then have to practice the expectations. The practice part of procedures is vital in creating positive orderly atmospheres, where learning can then take place. ARC shares the procedure of accountable talk to support all learners. Read the snip below for more information and be ready with your plan.

Math Curriculum Maps
The hard work of our wonderful Math Curriculum Team is paying off! The maps are a valuable resource that will help us as a district stay focused and together to ensure equity in curriculum. The K-2 maps are finished! We are currently planning a P.D. session with EES (Equitable Education Solutions). The P.D. session will include how to use and deconstruct the maps for instructional purposes.
