NOTES TO 4-H MEMBERS
Career Portfolio & Achievement Application - Due October 2
The fair is over, the excitement settled, and it’s time for 4-H members to record your accomplishments for the year. October 1 is right around the corner - the time to submit your Career Portfolio or Achievement Application. Both applications will be accepted. No project records required. The September newsletter will contain the details, with the achievement application. We want to recognize all youth for your achievements.
4-H Career Portfolio is a record of your 4-H career. It includes a listing of your personal growth and leadership experiences related to your knowledge learned, skills gained and community service experienced through 4-H. The form may be filled out by hand or computer. Form is available at the Extension Office. Download the form from the State 4-H website: http://4h.unl.edu or our website. Forms submitted to the Extension Office October 2 each year, read and signed by Extension staff, and returned. In addition to 4-H awards, you will use your Career Portfolio for other award applications, scholarships, college entrance, building your resume, and applying for jobs.
The Nebraska 4-H Achievement Application is a standard application form used for the selection of county and state award winners, including Nebraska delegates to National 4-H Congress and National 4-H Conference, as well as Nebraska 4-H Foundation scholarship award recipients. Find this application at https://4h.unl.edu/achievement-application
The 4-H Council will award $2.00 per member to clubs whose membership has 100% completion of the forms turned in to the Extension Office by October 2. All names on your club membership printout are included.
Diamond Clover Program - Reports Due October 2
The Nebraska 4-H Diamond Clover program encourages 4-H youth to engage in a variety of programs, projects, and activities that will enable youth to acquire skills and abilities that will prepare them for success in the future.
The program consists of six levels that require a young person to plan and report a broad range of age-appropriate accomplishments. For each level, the Nebraska 4-H Diamond Clover program provides a list of accomplishments from which 4-H youth choose their goals. The accomplishments increase in quantity and difficulty for each level. At the beginning of the 4-H year, participants plan what to accomplish and at the end of the 4-H year, they report on their completed accomplishments. Successful completion of a level's Plan & Report form results in a 4-H youth earning that level of the Diamond Clover program.
