Message from Ms. Lambert
Dear Parents,
Parent Conferences are next week! It is very important that you meet with teachers as a strong partnership is not possible without you. Please know that teachers are very eager to share the strengths of your child and the academic supports that they need, and teachers also want to hear from you what your concerns are.
When in a parent-teacher conference, if a teacher shares with you that your child isn't yet successful in a certain skill remember to ask the teacher why and also what supports are being provided for your child. Your interest in your child's successful education sends a strong message to the children and to us!
Best Regards,
Principal at Mariano Castro

English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) Meeting
These meetings are a required parent meeting and are for parents of students who speak any language in addition to English. We start at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 11th in the cafeteria. This year we have 16 different languages at Castro and it is important that the families from all of these languages attend the ELAC meetings.
Walkathon this Friday!
The annual Walkathon fundraiser and family event is this Friday! This event is for all students and famlies from both Castro and Mistral. It is a fun event for students and they collect prizes as they complete the laps. There is a lot of food for sale and approximately 100 volunteers have worked hard to put this amazing event together.
Please collect as many pledges as you can to help students understand the value of helping their school. Regardless of how many pledges the students have collected, ALL students participate in the Walkathon.
English Classes
It’s not too late to sign up! English Classes continue on Saturdays from 10:00AM – 12:00PM in Castro’s multi-use room. Vision Literacy will bring a unique program, Together We Learn, where Castro families will learn the English they need to help their kids be successful at school and have better communication with their teachers. Groups will be divided by their English level; beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Childcare and light snacks will be provided. The class is free and you can register there.
