Dear Jaguar Band Families,

Welcome to the last week of April! It is amazing how quickly the weeks are passing us by. Although we have many accomplishments to celebrate, there is the excitement of what the future may bring and the celebrations that are yet to come that help us keep our eyes looking forward with anticipation!

This week we find ourselves in the middle of preparation for several upcoming items. SNAP Fund Raiser!! We are on the downhill side of this event with only ten days left. It is extremely important that we finish strong! As I have stated before, this is the only fundraiser that we are doing this year, and we want to take advantage of its full potential! Let’s continue to push out the link through the various social media sources and if you still have not put in your emails it is not too late! Every effort counts!! Let’s get everyone on board!

This week, Tuesday 27th, we have a Color Guard Recruitment Camp at JHS! One of the very best ways we can recruit for this awesome program is by word of mouth. That’s really the truth! I encourage you to invite a friend to attend. Even if you play an instrument and are not in the guard you can still invite a friend to simply come and check it out! Who knows they may be the next Super Star Guard Member!! All it takes is an invitation to open that opportunity!

Spring Concert! It is going to be here before we know it! The various ensembles are working on music for this concert! Also, please remember that our Spring Concert is part of our semester final exam. Each ensemble will be scheduling one or two rehearsals outside of school in an effort to allow our virtual students who would like to perform at the concert to participate. The date of the Concert is Thursday, May 13, and it will be held at JHS on the Outdoor Stage! Our Winter Concert was held there and was such a great success we wanted to take advantage of that facility again! It also works out great that the following day is an asynchronous day. Details about times and order of performance will be coming soon.

Sports Physicals! Every band member must obtain a physical this year. UIL made an exception this past fall and did not require a physical for all band members and athletes. However, this year they have reinstated that rule, and all members must obtain a physical. We are working with the Jaguar Athletic Department to schedule physicals on campus for those who would like to take advantage of the opportunity. More info is coming soon. You may also obtain your physical from your family doctor. Every band member and athlete across the state of Texas must get a physical before they can participate this fall! It is required by UIL and we truly want all of our students to be safe and healthy!

Finally, make sure that you have it on your calendar: May 20, 21 & 22 are the dates of our Spring Training. This is going to be the very first time we assemble the entire 2021 - 22 Jaguar Marching Band!! This is going to be such an exciting moment! We can’t wait!! Also, on that Saturday we are hosting a Parent Meeting and Band Registration for all members. We want to make sure that we have everyone in our system, everyone completes all of the required paperwork, everyone’s contact information is correct and we get the ball officially rolling for the fall!

The Johnson Jaguar Band depends in large part on the fundraising efforts of the Band Boosters. Sponsorships are a very important part of fundraising. Our Sponsorship levels have been updated, and we have a lot of exciting options for businesses AND families! We ask that every family please share this brochure with anyone you know that has a business. We are eager to help promote businesses in our community that support the Jaguar Band! A new addition to our Sponsorship options is the Friends and Family Level. This level offers various options for businesses as well as an option for band families: For $200, you can have your child’s name and graduation year on our band trailer indefinitely with the option to simultaneously add sibling name for an additional $100.
