Weekly Coaching Communication
Make it a great day -- every day!
14 - 18 January 2019
Hats off to you!
Here's the past week's amazement* (and highlights from Wednesday's morning meeting):
- LOUD SHOUT OUT to Mrs. Miller -- thank you for serving our students for the second quarter of Spanish I & III. Your practice and patience in this position were nothing short of amazing. CPU is honored to call you a graduate and humbled by your generosity. We wish you the best with your first child and your future endeavors.
- Thank you for the learning on Wednesday morning -- learning teams are tough that early morning and with such little time to dig into content; your engagement, flexibility and preparedness are appreciated.
- Finals are over, and it's time to finish grading and move on to the next semester -- it is difficult to believe that the year is half over. The work you are doing in your classrooms and, more importantly, with students is nothing short of amazing -- Keep using your superpowers for good!

*As always . . . my intent here is not to leave out anyone, so if you know of some great things happening in this building, please send me a text or email so I can include them -- share the greatness that people are choosing to do for our learners and for each other.

HABITS of MIND CHALLENGE . . .
Before the holiday break, I was sharing the different habits of mind (link to poster), and I offered a CHALLENGE: Choose one or two habits of mind in which you set a personal goal to better your own behaviors.
I also offered a SUPER CHALLENGE: Share your goal(s) or set a goal with your classes in the second semester and include them in the change of their habits of mind.
The new semester is here are you ready to accept the challenge?
I am.
My chosen habits of mind are Responding with Wonderment and Awe AND Problem Posing (better) Questions:
MY GOAL: To share wonderment and awe with at least one teacher for each day that I am able to be in the building. The observable data will be consistently based on teacher practice and highly effective strategies.
HOW WILL I MEASURE:
Questions and Problem Posing: Prepare (in writing) questions and potential roadblocks ahead of conversations. When a question arises in conversation, write the stem and ASK IT. Reflect on the usefulness of preparation questions and problems after each conversation with a + or - for usefulness. During conversation questions will be recorded and tallied.
MY GOAL: To better prepare questions and think of potential roadblocks ahead of conversations and to actually ask the questions that generate from the discussion.
Coaching Schedule -- see Google Calendar for specific "Busy" times **schedule subject to change**
